“Sen, Sen!” I woke to Sasuke shaking me. My eyes popped open, and I gasped as though I hadn’t been breathing.
“S-Sasu- what?” I asked, flustered.
“You were screaming. Was it a nightmare?” He asked.
“I don’t… don’t remember... “ I groaned, holding my pounding head. He had a hand on my back, moving it up and down in an attempt to soothe me.
“I’ll get you some water.” He said, and I nodded. He hurried into the bathroom and returned with a glass filled with cold water. I took a few sips, and held it tightly in my trembling hands.
“It’s okay. I get nightmares too.” He admitted. I looked up at him, and suddenly saw him as someone who understood how I felt. He sighed as I took another sip of the water, letting the cold wet liquid quench my dry throat.
“My parents were killed when I was really young.” He admitted, looking down.
“As well as… my-”
“Entire clan…” I finished his sentence, and he glanced up at me slightly surprised that I would know that.
“Uchiha… that was your last name right…? I would overhear a lot of my parent’s conversations.... they spoke often about the Uchiha clan and… what happened.” I answered. He remained quiet, in thought before speaking up again.
“It was my brother that did it…” He said, and I sighed, realizing how he must feel with all that happening to him at once. Without thinking, I leaned over and rested my head on his shoulder. I felt as he tensed up from the contact, but after a moment or two he relaxed and allowed me to stay like that.
“I’ll help you prepare for graduation.” Sasuke said suddenly. I looked up at him questioningly.
“I know all the Jutsu by heart. I can teach you, and at the rate you pick stuff up, you could learn it all before the final week.” He offered. I thought for a moment before nodding.
“Alright… thanks.” I said, messing with my hands in order to distract myself.
“I don’t know what else to say…” He admitted, and I gave him a small smile.
“It’s fine… you don’t have to say anything else.” I said, nodding. He stood from the bed and walked through the door again before turning back to me.
“Goodnight, again.” He said, and I smiled once more before lying back down on the bed and falling back into a deep sleep.
*The next day*
Sasuke and I were quiet as we walked into class side by side. Every girl in the room glared coldly at me, but I ignored it. As we were walking up the steps to our seats, I noticed their glares increasing as I walked past. Once we finally got to our seats, I realized that I couldn’t focus on the lesson at all. It was only when Sasuke nudged me with his elbow that I came back to reality.
