sixth year

"Merlin, there's like bloody millions of them this year"

Layla looked around platform 9 ¾ with astonishment as first year students shuffled around her frantically trying to find their way to the train. With only a couple more minutes left until the whistle rang, Layla was trying to find Lily Evans who she would simply not board the train without.

"Darling they have ears you know" Layla's aunt, Ruby Edwards playfully chastised her as she helped her niece gather her things. "Where's Blueberry?"

"Stevie said he was going to grab her but I have no idea where he went" Layla stood on the tips of her toes as she looked over the sea of students and parents, looking for her uncle Steve and her pet owl, "He probably got distracted by the floating trunks again"

"It's a blessing and a curse he knows about magic now, a blessing and a curse" Ruby repeated as if she were trying to reassure herself.

She adored her uncle Steve, and after he found out about magic and all things concerned with Layla's mysterious 'boarding school' he had been in a constant state of wonder. Layla wasn't allowed to use her wand outside school, but that didn't stop him from asking his wife to magically fold the laundry or fix a glass cup he 'accidentally' dropped. But the women in the house hardly minded these days, having Steve included only brought the small family closer together.

"I'd say its more of a blessing..." Layla mumbled off as she saw a familiar mop of head, just a few feet from where they were standing. "Oh for Merlin's sake, I did not think I would see him here-now"

Sirius Black stood with James Potter just a few feet away, animatedly saying their good byes to James' parents.

Sirius had sent her a total of eight letters throughout summer break, small updates on how he was now officially living with the Potters, Quidditch, and the little things he wanted to do with her through their sixth year. Layla only sent six letters back but she kept every single letter he sent in a little compartment just under her bed.

It had only been a few months since she had last seen him, but he looked different, he was far taller than her now, his shaggy hair was trimmed and it structured his sharp jawline and eyes in a way that made her melt at the thought of. It was beyond Layla how anybody could grow so much in such a little time, but she wasn't complaining.

Sirius was bloody beautiful.

"Isn't that the boy that chased you down when I came to pick you up last year" Ruby spoke loudly when she noticed her niece ogling at the boy she claimed she 'had no feelings for whatsoever,' "Oh my, he's adorable, good job darling!"

"Aunt Ruby! What is your deal!" Layla whisper-yelled as she pulled her aunt's arm so they were facing the other way. Her cheeks were burning red and they only got redder as Ruby laughed on trying to turn around to look at him, "Merlin stop trying to look! He definitely heard you-we need to hide now"
