Dry leaves crunched under his feet with every step, as the alpha walked through the forest, disturbing the silence of the night. Not many people would take this route, the forest was said to be haunted, though the man couldn't care less as he quickened his pace.
He was late.
Very late.
The alpha eventually reached a clearer path and followed it to his destination. As he approached a rather large tent, mounted neatly in a clearing in the forest, he could hear distant chatter and low music. Hopefully, they all would be drunk and wouldn't realize he was late.
Two guards stood at the entrance to the tent, two long spears crossing each other, preventing entry. As the man reached them, he pulled down his red hood to reveal himself to the guards.
"Kuroo Tetsurou," he said smoothly, straightening his back, making himself look taller and more intimidating than earlier. To top it off, he removed his scent patches, releasing his strong scent of sandalwood, catching the other two off-guard.
They quickly bowed down and moved aside letting him in. He pushed aside the flaps of the tent and stepped inside. Mixed scents lingered in the air, all belonging to alphas. As Kuroo expected, most of them were drunk already. However, the one whom he wanted to avoid sat at the center of the table, staring at him with stern eyes.
He let out a long sigh before making his way to the other alpha. He was shorter than Kuroo, with dark hair and brown eyes, but the annoyed look on his face was enough to scare the other.
"Ku-"
"Let me explain."
"Ok then, go on."
"..."
"Yeah, that's what I thought."
"Come on Daichi, cut him some slack. He's never been late before. Forgive and forget," a deep voice said from behind Kuroo.
Bokuto slung his arm over Kuroo's shoulder, a cheeky grin on his face. He was tipsy, supporting himself on Kuroo's upper body.
"You know what? You're right, Bokuto. Why don't you undergo his punishment instead? You're late every day."
Kuroo snorted, as Bokuto let out an offended gasp and clutched at his chest. He mumbled a few incoherent words about being betrayed, before passing out on the ground.Kuroo stopped him from falling and dumped him on a chair nearby. When he returned to the table, Daichi was massaging his temples and shaking his head.
"I'll let it go this time, but please don't be late again, Kuroo," he said, looking up at him, "these idiots manage to get drunk within half an hour of the meeting, so I have to finish discussing everything within that time."
Kuroo nodded his head. A smug smirk replacing his apologetic look, he sat down next to Daichi.
"You should loosen up sometimes too. Have some fun.""Yeah right. You guys will take that as an opportunity to run around the forest howling like hooligans and prove the villagers' rumors of this forest being haunted as true."
Kuroo cackled, his hyena laugh spreading through the tent.

The sun slowly rose from beyond the horizon, taking its own sweet time.
Alphas inside the tent slowly started getting up, with headaches and hangovers. A few servants entered the tent, handing out water and medicine.
Kuroo doesn't even remember when he fell asleep. He groaned as sunlight poured into the tent, and squeezed his eyes shut due to the brightness. He got up, his eyes still adjusting, and staggered over to get some water.
His throat was dry and itchy. He swallowed the contents and lifted his arms into a bone-cracking stretch. He silently fought off the urge to go back to sleep and made his way over to a certain two-toned spiky-haired alpha.
Bokuto threw his pillow at Kuroo's face, when the latter tried to wake him. He pulled his blanket over his head, which ended up being yanked away by Kuroo.
After a series of complaints and whines, both alphas were on their way. The previously silent and solemn forest, now bright and breezy.
"Well, I never got to ask Daichi what the meeting was about. Anything important happen?" Kuroo started.
"Oho, yes. A dozen bodies were found, on the outskirts of a nearby village. All alphas."
"Since when have we been interested in mere mass murders?"
" That's the thing. It wasn't an ordinary murder. There were traces left behind, on purpose."
"Wait, you don't think it's-"
Bokuto shook his head frantically.
"They were murdered by omegas""And by omegas you mean.....?"
"The Angels of Death."
"So, Daichi was ordered by the higher-ups to find out more about them?"
"Yup. But think about it, Tetsu. If a group of omegas became some of the most powerful people in this kingdom, it would be iconic."
"Unfortunately, not everyone thinks the same. Most people still believe alphas are the superior secondary gender and omegas are simply made to carry their children."
Bokuto shook his head again, this time less enthusiastically. After a few more minutes of trudging through a dirt path, once they were deep enough inside the forest, Kuroo removed his scent patches again.
The other alpha copied him, letting out a scent of sweet lavender. Kuroo inhaled it in and smiled at how Bokuto was one of the few alphas that had such a refreshing scent.
"You know, not many alphas have the scent of a flower," Kuroo said, voicing out his thoughts.
Bokuto hummed in agreement as he jumped over a small puddle."Most alphas have something more......masculine," he continued with a smirk.
"Are you saying I'm not masculine?!" Bokuto scoffed, stopping in his tracks.
Kuroo simply shrugged and kept walking, leaving behind an infuriated Bokuto.
"You little-"
