Chapter 1 [The Gamenight]

Kara's POV

After a long time, me and my friends were together again. I missed our game nights. It was John's turn to impersonate and we had to guess what he was trying to show us. We laughed at how ridiculous he looked while trying to explain.

I poured myself a glass of some white wine while guessing.

"Wait, wait, I think I got it, I got it!" I said confidently. "To Our Next Adventure!"

"Ohh no! It's The Adventures of Tintin!" He signals with his hands, visually opening two tins. We bursted out laughing. He is clever. We should do this more often, it's really fun.

After all, I couldn't erase the thought that we finally defeated Nyx. And we did it together. I thought I was supposed to save everyone, but honestly, Nyx and Lex are just evil.

We talked some more after that, until I realised what I had to do tomorrow. Cat Grant hired me as the new editor-in-chief of Catco Worldwide Media. Tomorrow is the most important day of my life. I talked to Cat and we both agreed that I should except my inner self completely, so we came up with the idea of doing something I've been afraid of for most of my life. Since l've lived here on Earth, my job was to protect little Kal-El, but when I was sent to Earth because of Krypton's destruction, my pod got knocked off course and into the phantom zone, where time doesn't pass. I crashed on Earth years later, but my cousin, Kal-El was already grown. I was placed into adoptive family called The Danvers. I was living there with my sister Alex, the whole childhood until I moved to my apartment here, in National City. I worked here at Catco Worldwide Media as Cat Grant's assistant, then assistant number two, then again the OG assistant –

because Siobhan Smythe went all crazy siren on Catco plus tried to scam me by going on my computer and typing a rude email to Cat, thinking she could fool me. Thank Rao for Winn's computer skills.

– then I had complications with my new moody boss Snapper Carr, then I did something reckless and got fired, got my job back, met my current bestfriend Lena, then she bought Catco because Cat Grant left, then Andrea got Catco, then I left Catco to focus on defeating Nxy, THEN CAT GRANT SHOWED UP OUT OF NOWHERE AND BOUGHT CATCO BACK, and I became the editor-in-chief.

Wow, didn't realise until now, that my life is that complicated. But generally, emotionally and spiritually I'm in the right place, where I'm supposed to be. I am happy. Truly. I must admit I'm a little scared of going back to Catco tomorrow and doing an interview with Cat. She said she's more than ready presenting me as Supergirl and revealing my real identity to the world. Although I'm terrified of the backlash, I think I'm ready, I have to be. I have to do this for myself, so I can move on, finally putting myself first.

I snapped out of my thoughts and focused back on my friends, noticing everyone putting their jackets and shoes on.

"Guys, come here, group hug!" I initiated the hug when Esme interrupted me very adorably;

"Hugs are my favourite!" I giggled. She is adorable. I'm so happy for Alex and Kelly.

"Oh come here," I picked her up so we could all hug together, as I continued on what I was trying to say.

"I love every single one of you guys, thank you for being there for me since day one. It means the world to me."

"I'm sure everyone here loves you too, Kara." Said John.

Alex then looked me in the eyes and added,

"You've been through enough. You literally carry the whole world on your shoulders. You really need some rest and time for yourself, Kara. To really focus on your future and your goals. On what YOU truly want. And I'm here for you. We all are."

"Yeeessss, yes we are!" Nia cheered and Brainy nodded, agreeing with her.

We broke out of the hug, when Lena picked up her glass one last time;

"El Mayarah." She smiled, and raised her glass.

"El Mayarah!" We said all together.

Our glasses clinked.
