It felt like we've been talking for hours. First we talked about my new career and then my plans for my future. I explained to her that currently, I just want to do the things I love, including focusing on my new position here at Catco and taking care of my family. As we continued the interview, her questions seemed more personal. That reminded me of the first time she interviewed me as Supergirl.
"So, Kara, I saw Mon-El a few days ago, he was saying goodbye to you. I know he went back to the future, but I'm wondering, what's going on between the two of you?"
That's uhm... I'm a little uncomfortable, but not like the first time.
There was silence before I answered the question, because I wasn't exactly sure how to answer it. Yes, our relationship was complicated, but we didn't actually broke up. He was forced to leave the Earth. It's true that he got married to his wife Imra but honestly, I still care for him. I'm not in love with him, but I do care for him. So, I answered this one truthfully, I have nothing to hide anyways.
"Umm, we have been through a lot, he is doing a great job at protecting the future and I support him in any way. Unfortunately, we are separated, but remaining good friends."
"I'm glad that you two are still friends."
I smiled.
Cat looks down at the sheet of paper to read the next question.
"Okay Kara, we have talked about your career and a little bit of your future. Let's stop here for a minute."
"Of course." I said, taking a strand of my hair and putting it behind my ear.
"What do you think will happen after this interview ends and the whole world knowing your true identity?"
My smile dropped, as I became concerned. I could feel my cheeks going red. I took a big breath and answered.
"I'm a little scared, to be honest. But I think this could be a good thing. And nothing about me is going to change. I will continue to help people, it's what I do. It's why I was sent here. I can only hope that people will hear me the right way and except me the way I except them."
Cat nodded, showing that she agreed with me and added;
"I think so, too. I hope everything turns out the way you imagined."
"Thank you, Miss Grant." I smiled.
"You're welcome. I noticed you have some new friends around you. We met Dreamer before. You actually interviewed her, right?"
"Yes. She's a good friend of mine."
"What about Lena Luthor? It's quite a surprise that a Luthor is working with a Kryptonian, isn't it?"
What do you mean a surprise? Because she's a Luthor? This won't get you much attention Cat, I hope that she knows what she's doing.
"Many would think that, just because she's a Luthor, she can't be trusted. She's not like Lex, far from it. She had a dark past, but that doesn't define her. Her intentions are clear and good."
"Tell me more about her."
"I think she's a very powerful woman who knows exactly how to use her power in a wise way. She's very intelligent and smart. I trust her with my life."
When I said the last sentence, I laughed a little, Cat immediately noticed that. She turned and looked directly at a camera and said:
"We'll be back after a short break. Stay tuned."
The camera man hit the pause button on the camera and muted the mics. I suppose this wasn't going according to plan.
Cat turned back to me, put her paper sheet on the other side of the table and turned off her little voice recorder. She looked confused.
"Kara, off the record. It's been a long time since I've last been here, I might be going blind, but I'm definitely not stupid."
What is she even talking about?
"Is there anything going on between the two of you?"
Oh...
"N-no. She's just an amazing best friend."
"Are you lying to me, or to yourself? I saw how your eyes lit up when we talked about her earlier."
"Cat, we are just best friends. I've never thought of us being anything more than that. Even if I did, I couldn't risk the chance of losing her again."
"Oh, Kara. I know you for a long time now, and the Kara I know, would listen to her heart first."
"Yes, look where that got me." I said disappointedly.
"It got you through the darkest times, it got you through phantom zone. Yes, you probably used mind and logic for that, too. But your heart will always show you the right way."
"I'm actually meeting her today, we are going shopping and having some coffee."
"I suggest you should tell her how you feel."
"How I feel? What if I don't know what I feel for her? I've never been with a woman, yet alone date one. How do I know if I'm bisexual or even pansexual?"
I'm not gonna lie, I don't even know what's my sexual orientation, because I never paid any attention in this way. How do I know the difference between liking a woman and loving her??
Cat broke the silence between us, I think she saw me starting to freak out and tried to stop me.
"Kara, focus. Focus on the now, this moment. The future will happen anyways. What matters is how you feel. You know I've been married four times and what I learned was not to rush anything out. Just like Bebe Rexha once said; If it's meant to be, It'll be... You know, I actually met her in New York once. Her style is quite... How do I say it... Luscious? Nevermind... Now, the break is almost over, let's continue, we have a couple more questions. Camera!"
I never thought I would have to think about who I'm attracted to. I realised, based on Cat's words, that I never took my time to figure out my orientation. What if that's because I don't care? I know I always see the best in people, but that's not defined by their gender, their identity, how they represent themselves. Since I was born, I never discriminated anyone.
"Welcome back. I'm joined here today with wonderful Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl. Hello Kara, how are you?"
"I'm good, thanks." I answered.
"So before the break, we talked about Lena Luthor. Besides being a brilliant scientist, she does know how to wheel her magic wand."
"Yeah, right? Who would've thought. Lena Luthor a witch? Incredible."
"It looks like she could become the new dr. Strange, don't you think?"
"She's a great asset to our team. With good training she could accomplish some amazing things. She's very talented and we all are excited for her."
"Well, we will see where this path leads to. Thank you so much, Supergirl for talking to me. I wish you lots of luck to you and your team."
"Thank you so much, Miss Grant."
Camera points directly to her. Her final speech to end this evening. This was quite a lot to handle. I knew that they didn't need me for the scene anymore so I stood up and looked at Cat, signalling me to go home. I left her office, walking towards the elevator, when my notification sound goes off and a message pops up on my phone.
It's her.
