Her heart felt like it was beating out of her chest.
Who the hell is that?
The more she tried to convince herself that it was Jisung, the more she knew it wasn't. The man was beefy, his broad shoulders like boulders by his big, round head. Definitely not Jisung— wait, what the fuck?
Another man had appeared from the shadows, standing next to the first guy. He was a little leaner, slightly taller. Alright, this guy looked a lot more like Jisung— wait no, this guy has long hair. The two were talking to each other stiffly, their bodies never moving unnecessarily.
They disappeared into the house for a moment and left her leaning against her desk until her forehead was pressed against her cold window, so much so that when the two men finally came back into view, she noticed something about them she didn't notice before— they were wearing black gloves.
If the two strange men standing in Jisung's living room weren't enough of an indication, their black gloves were a sure giveaway.
Jisung's house was being robbed.
Her chest tightened, strands of hair falling to her face as she stared agape at the scene before her. Was this actually happening?
Is this a dream?
She felt helpless as the men slowly pulled away from the window and out of sight once again. Their absence shook her out of her stupor; she jolted up from her seat, rushing to her nightstand where she kept her phone charging.
She snatched her cellphone— ah shit, was it not charging this whole time?— and immediately unlocked it. She dialed the familiar three numbers before pressing her phone against her ear.
It didn't take long for the person on the other end to pick up; she peeked out of her window curiously as the person on the other line said, "112, what is your emergency?"
"Hi, u-um," she stuttered, only realizing her voice was partially shaking. "I think someone is breaking into my neighbor's house."
It sounded so strange coming out of her mouth, it still didn't feel real. The two men came back into the frame and her legs were weak again. The lady on the other side was calm, however. "Alright, how many of them are there?"
"Two, there's two of them," Nari blurted with an unstable tone.
"Can you see their faces?"
"No I can't, it's really dark and—" she cut herself short when a third figure appeared, gasping— "wait, there's a third guy."
"Alright miss, did you see them enter the house?"
"N-no," Nari replied, feeling a little rant come out of her. "I've just been studying a-and I look down and they're suddenly inside the house."
"Do you know how many people live in your neighbor's house?"
"Yeah, this boy, he's alone because his parents are away."
"Has he been alone all day?" The officer inquired professionally. "Did he have any suspicious visitors?"
"Well, he had some frien—"
Oh my god.
Are those just his friends?
Her head felt light with partial relief and horrible embarrassment. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry but I think they might just be his friends— he had some friends come over and they're probably staying over, I didn't know, oh I'm sorry for wasting your time—"
