Once Drix finally stopped moving you sat normally. Jones angrily joined the both of you inside the car and carefully shut his door. Then you were finally off. You were so excited to finally be on your first job. Your leg bounced and you bit your lip with anticipation. Jones noticed this in the rear-view mirror and smirked.

"Y/N, this is your first non-computer related job right?"

You nodded profusely. "Yeah! Sorry, was my leg bouncing bothering you? I'm just super stoked."

"No no, not at all. I think it's cute."

You both locked eyes in the rear-view mirror for a couple of seconds. Your cheeks warmed and you smiled as you looked away and out the window. Jones started looking at the road with a grin on his face.

"Do you two have any chemistry?" Drix asked.

"We'd conversate around the building if we were near each other but that's it. We've never actively seeked each other out." You answered.

"You two seem to like each other more than Ms. Leah and Jones."

"Hey I'll get Leah one day, mark my words."

You scoffed and rolled your eyes with a smirk. "Yeah Jones, I'm sure you will."

"Have faith girl! Don't you want me to be happy?" He teased.

"Ugh, you're right. You'll get her one day, champ."

"Damn right!"

Jones turned on some music loudly and tapped his fingers on his steering wheel to the beat. Apparently Drix didn't appreciate how loud the music was so he went to turn it down.

"Hey hey! Don't touch my radio!"

You started staring out the window as Jones took up a conversation.

"Where you from, tough stuff?"

"I was developed in the University of Chicago where I graduated in Phi Beta Capsule."

"Great. Got me a college boy." Jones rolled his eyes.

"I received my FDA certification in cold and flu studies as well as a masters in multi-symptom relief."

Your eyes widened after hearing all of that. "Damn so you're like, super smart." You butt in.

"I'd like to think so." He grinned proudly. "What about you, Jones? Where did you study?"

Jones scoffed. "Study? When you grow up on the wrong side of the digestive tract, you don't got no money for no fancy schools."

"Ohh.." Drix looked down.

"Elaborate." You said as you leaned forward.

"You shall receive. My high school was crack central! It was in the crack!"

You and Drix shared displeased sounds at what was being said.

"Right in the stanky puckered center!"

You cringed and groaned thinking about it. But Jones didn't stop there.

"We were so poor we lived off peanut butter and cellulite sandwiches! You ever tried to blow dry your hair with a fart?"

You let yourself fall back into your seat and shut your eyes.

"Ok, we get it. You were poor."

"You bet I was. You ever tried to make a snowman out of toilet paper cling-ons? Now, that's poor!"

You silently groaned to yourself and covered your eyes with your hands as if that would do anything.

"Ok, please. You're going to make me vomit."

"Vomit? We couldn't afford no vomit. That's for rich folks."

"Vomit's actually pretty good." You relaxed.

"Look at miss richy rich over here." Jones teased once again.

"Excuse me while I wipe my eyes." Drix said.

"Aw, you wanna talk about wipin'."

Your smile faded as you and Drix immediately shouted no.

The three of you finally arrived at a flaming red throat accompanied by firefighters trying to put it out.

"Ok, you're all new, so follow my lead, right? Now—" Drix interrupted Jones by stepping out of the car. The blue cell jumped out after him shouting for him to wait up.

You struggled to quickly get out as you had to move the passenger seat to exit. "Yo, wait for me! I hate these types of cars!" You grumbled.

Once you were finally able to set yourself free you ran over to Jones. You watched as Drix slowly made his way closer to the throat.

Jones made his way over to a buddy you assumed so you just stood there with your hands clasped together watching Drix intently. Well, you occasionally looked around awkwardly and accidentally made eye contact with a random firefighter.

You could minorly hear Jones' conversation but as soon as he called you over you were all ears. You walked over next to him as he put his arm around your shoulders.

"This is my other partner, Y/N. Her first real police job. Isn't that something?"

"It sure is." The bigger cell replied.

He removed his arm from around you and asked the firefighter about the situation.

"It's just a routine sore throat. Looks like a saliva boat went haywire and crashed."

"Saliva boat? That's pretty unusual." He questioned.

"What are you theorizing right now?" You asked him.

"Just thinkin'..it's weird don't you think?"

You shrugged and looked at the destroyed boat. "I guess. But weird things happen in this body all the time. Something new is bound to happen any day."

You looked back at Drix but unfortunately couldn't hear him. He loaded his cannon and started working his pill magic. He was cooling down the throat, almost hitting a fireman in the process, right before your eyes. The red was overrun by blue and your jaw dropped.

Jones peeked at you and closed your mouth with his index finger. "Wouldn't want your pretty face to get stuck like that now would we?" You shot your gaze to look at him and laughed.

"Jones, do you just flirt with every girl you meet?"

"Not every girl. Only the special ones." He smirked at you.

"Oh, c'mon you!" You smiled. Special? Today is the most the two of you have ever spoken. Desperate for love isn't he? You rolled your eyes and continued to watch Drix work.

Turns out you were too distracted. When you looked around Jones was gone. You called out for him but no answer. You looked at the saliva boat and furrowed your eyebrows. Building up any bravery you had, you walked towards the boat in search of your partner.
