Chapter 4-
“oh good, third lesson, Jack and I have that together’’ Millie thought
‘Hi Jack’ She said as he walked up to where Millie was standing, outside the classroom waiting for the teacher to come
‘Uh, Hey’ He said nervously, Millie picked up on this too
‘Are you okay?’ She asked
‘Yeah, um, brb’ He said
‘I’m going to the toilet, hold my books’ Jack continued, before scuttling off into the mens toilet
‘Oh no, is this because of before, when charlotte asked if I liked him?’ Millie thought.
There teacher arrived before Jack came out the toilet, so millie walked in, chose a desk, and put her books down, and Jack’s books next to her, he came in just as the teacher was calling out names on the roll. They sat in silence for about 10 minutes, and jack kept fiddling with his pens, he looked really nervous, so millie tried again
‘Are you OK?’ She asked
‘Ok look’ He said almost straight away, as if he had been trying to say it for ages
‘You know how before when Charlotte asked if you liked me?’ Jack explained, now it was millies time to be nervous
‘Um, yeah’ She said, with a weak smile
‘You never answered...’ He said. Suddenly the world seemed to stop, Millie gulped, and it felt like an eternity before he spoke again
‘But’ He started, millies heart started beating again and it seemed as though the world started back up
‘But what?’ Millie finally managed to push out
‘But, Don’t tell me, we have a good, uh, you know, friendship’ He replied. It seemed as though he tried to push the last word out, like he didn’t really want to say ‘Friendship’. But Millie read straight through him, he was easy to read, and find at what he was thinking
‘You want to know.. Don’t you?’ She said, questioning him
‘Well, yes. I dunno, Do you like me?’ He said, Millies thoughts rushed through her head
What should I say?
Does he like me back?
What about Fliss?
What if he doesnt like me?
What if i say yes, would it be awkward
Truth? Or Lies?
Truth.
‘Yes, I think I do’ Millie said, as if they where the most important words of her life, which at this point they where
‘You think?’ Jack said
‘I do.’ She corrected. There was another silence, it only lasted a few seconds
‘Well, I, like you too’ He replied. Millie felt like the warm snugly feeling, as you curl up under the covers in winter, with a hot chocolate and the marshmallows bumping around on top. The rest of the lesson was filled with more awkward silences, until they where let out of class and Jack stood in front of Millie
‘So does this mean you want to go, uh, out?’ Jack asked
Millies thought rushed through her head, but this time, they where all saying the same thing
‘Yes’ Millie replied with a smile
