"I didn't catch your name," Davina asked, glancing at Lucifer with mild curiosity and a hint of annoyance.

"I didn't throw it," he replied, not even bothering to look up from his book.

Davina's eye twitched. This man has a unique talent for getting on my last nerve, she thought, muttering under her breath.

She kept staring at him, half-expecting him to get uncomfortable, but Lucifer remained annoyingly unbothered. Finally, after what felt like ages, he smirked and said, "You look cute when you're mad."

Her mouth fell open. "Cute? Oh, you think I look cute when I'm mad? Well, buckle up, Lucy, because I'm about to get downright gorgeous."

With a wave of her hand, she summoned water to splash him, but before it even reached him, a dark swirling hole appeared, sucking up the water like a vacuum.

Before she could even process what just happened, a second hole materialized above her head, dumping all the water right back onto her.

Davina stood there, soaked and glaring, while Lucifer chuckled without even glancing up from his book. "Rascal!" Daeliah, her wolf, growled in her head.

"You can save the compliments for later, little demon," Lucifer said, still reading.

"You—!" Davina sputtered, but there were no words left in her soaked fury. With a huff, she stormed off to change, grumbling under her breath.

"You can call me Lucy," Lucifer finally said, putting his book down, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. "As for what you said earlier, Davina, I can't let you travel alone."

Davina froze, half-turning toward him, confusion creasing her brow. "Excuse me? What do you mean by that?"

Lucifer stood up and approached her, his presence imposing, but Davina held her ground. "I know you too well. I can't let you wander off on your own."

Her eyes narrowed. "Why not?"

"Because I don't trust you, little wolf."

"Oh really, Mr. Lucy? I don't need your trust, and I definitely don't need your permission," she retorted, crossing her arms defiantly. "I don't take orders from anyone."

Lucifer sighed dramatically, as if she was being unreasonable. "You do. I am your lord, after all."

Davina snorted. "Guess what? I'm an atheist."

Lucifer blinked, clearly not expecting that. He stared at her for a moment before shaking his head with a smirk. Without another word, he shrugged off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders, his warmth still clinging to the fabric.

"Get changed, or you'll catch a cold," he said, his tone unusually soft. "First room on the left. You can use it."

Davina blinked, momentarily speechless. She hadn't realized she'd been holding her breath, and now, with his jacket around her, her resolve wavered. She heard his footsteps growing fainter as he walked away, leaving her standing there in a stunned silence.

Focus, Davina. Sneak out while you still can, she reminded herself, glancing toward the door. No way am I staying in this palace, even if Lucy is trying to play nice.
