"Up to walking?" Jason asks me and I nod, ignoring the fatigue and slight dizziness. I take his hand and he pulls me to my feet. I follow him and the others into the next chamber, looking around at all the strange architecture and weird structure in the center of the room.
Rachel goes over to the small pool of water and starts washing the blood off her hands, arms, and face. "What is this place?" Salim asks and I take a seat on one of the crates near a wooden table. Nick removes his pack and starts rifling through it.
"We need a plan," Salim states and Jason looks at him. "I have a plan."
"Given your history it probably involves blowing stuff up. Am I right?" I ask him and he gives me a small smile. He did mine the temple and not to mention the dynamite he picked up earlier. "I was gonna say we fuck those things up and get the fuck out."
"Good plan," Salim says sarcastically and I chuckle lightly. "Sergeant Kay, what do we got left?" He asks Nick who turns to look at the weapons he laid out on the table. "So we got, um… eight clips of 556 FMJ, three 40 mil high-ex rounds, couple of nine mil pistols, four clips between them, we'll make that work. Plus two phosphor rounds."
Jason nods and Nick holds up a block of C4. "Oh… and one block of composition C4." He sets it down and Jason turns to Eric. "What about the UV lamp?"
"Took a knock but I can fix it. Just need a minute."
"All in, its not enough," Sergeant Kay adds and Jason pulls out the dynamite he picked up, setting it down on the table. "We've also got this." Nick picks it up and examines it. "It's old. Unpredictable."
"We work with what we got," Jason says repeating Nick's words from when he was trying to fix the transmitter earlier. "Fuses are shot, but we can use the C4 to detonate them. Let's just hope they still pack a punch."
"The vampires come from those cocoons. You saw how many there were in that vault. There could be thousands in there," Salim reminds us and Jason looks at him. "So we blow them up. Burn as many of those motherfuckers as we can and head for the surface. What do you think Sergeant?"
Nick puts his ammo clip back into his rifle before looking at Jason. "Oorah!" I shake my head as Jason twirls a hand gun around his finger, presenting the handle to Salim who takes its. A freshly cleaned Rachel steps forward raking Salim with a distrustful glare. "I'm not gonna allow him to carry a pistol."
"We are way past that point now, ma'am. We stand together as one."
"Yeah, not to mention he's saved both our asses several times now," I say as I lean back against the chamber wall feeling so fucking drained. "If you've still got that medkit, now would be a good time to use it," Kolchek assesses when he sees Salim and Nick's wounds. Nick pulls it out and examines it's contents.
Jason used up most of the gauze when he patched up my leg which means there's not that much left. "It's looking pretty light. I can only patch up one person." He stands up and hands the kit over to Salim who stares at him in slight surprise. "Press back home would have a field day with this." He takes the kit from Nick and gives him a grateful smile.
"Looks like our explorers were here too. We should search this place before we move out," Jason tells them and Eric flips a switch on the UV lamp and it comes to life. "There! I got it." They spread out and start searching through the stuff the archeologists left behind.
I close my eyes not really wanting to keep them open anymore. "Hey, Cerise?" Eric calls for me, maybe to show me something except I really just want to be left alone. I'm so tired! "Hey! No, Cerise!" Fast footsteps race over to me and I'm suddenly being shaken roughly.
