It all began when the old party decided it was time for the annual Mighty Nein meet-up. The children of the families could not come as they were too young and the chances the party would get up to some shit that their kids shouldn't see were high. The party planned to meet up in Nicodranas, then sail away to Marquet, then return in 5 days. They needed a babysitter for the child, Luc. He was 8 now, he was still too young to be alone. Now you may be thinking, well why can't his father watch him? Well, his father would love to, but he would be joining his wife. He enjoyed the group of friends and would have loved to be there too. So they went to the one person they knew very well that they knew how to care for a child- Marion Lavorre. She wouldn't be alone with the young boy all the time, as her lover would be home in the early mornings and evenings. She was very excited to have a little one running around her again, though she was nervous too. She remembers how exhausting her young Jester was, though surely Luc wasn't the same. She would have this child in her care for 5 days. Soon, the child arrived. He had a small suitcase with him, a sleeping bag, his pillow, and the plush rabbit his mother bought him. He had a bright smile across his face and wore his everyday comfy clothes. He shoved past Marion, dragging his stuff into her home. He dropped his stuff somewhere along the way and flopped onto the soft, comfy, couch. "Thank you again, Marion. We left him 10 gold in case you go shopping and he wants to buy something. Oh, your payment! Here you are..." Veth said, digging through her coin purse. She pulled out 20 gold and handed it to the tall, red, woman. She smiled brightly and turned to her husband. "Are you ready to go, honey buns?" Veth spoke seductively. Her submissive husband blushed a deep crimson, nodding in response while avoiding eye contact. She snickered at her flustered lover, said a quick goodbye to Marion. The two ran off leaving Marion on her own with the young boy. "Little Luc, why don't we take your stuff to the room you'll be in and set up your bed? After that, I'll make you lunch!" She spoke excitedly at the little boy. He grinned and nodded. She picked up some of his stuff, leading him to his temporary room. She scooped up the little man and swung him around the room, plopping him on the bed. It was a bed designed for a human, so he looked tiny in it. His eyes lit up brightly, as he rolled around the bed. "This bed is sooooo big!!!" he shouted, causing Marion to flinch slightly. She giggled at the young boy. "Alright little man, do you want to use your sleeping bag for the bed, or would you rather use one of the spare blankets I have?" she asked, feeling fairly confident he would choose her blanket. "Can I use one of yours Aunty Mary?" he asked, causing the beautiful woman to blush. She nodded. She walked down the hall, pulling open the linen closet. Inside laid many fluffy towels, blankets, and pillowcases. She reached in and pulled out the softest blanket in there. She brought it back into the room, noticing the boy wasn't paying attention. She snuck up to him and wrapped the blanket around him, shouting "Boo!" The little boy screamed and began laughing. The two laughed together, soon getting up and setting up the room for the little boy. She brought him back out to the living room, a few of his toys in her arms. "Alright Luc, you play in here while I go make lunch." She tells him, trying to sound stern but not mean. He nodded to her and plopped down to play. She walked into the kitchen and began making lunch. After about ten minutes, there was a knock at the door. She shouted that she'd be there in a minute, earning a long silence. She believed that the person at the door heard her shout and was just waiting. After about two minutes she was able to answer the door while going through the living room she noticed the young boy was gone. She just assumed he went to the washroom, trying to keep her anxiety down. She heard a loud thud on the door, followed by some scurrying off. She felt on edge, cautiously answering the door. She found no one there, but a note on the door being held up by a dagger. Her face paled at the sight. She pulled the dagger out of the wood and read the note. It said: Your bastard of a lover pissed us off one too many times. This last time was the last straw, we took the boy as compensation. You will never see him again. Her face went red with rage, over the years her daughter began to teach her mother how to protect herself, how to fight. She rushed over to her room, changing her clothes to something more flexible. She tied her hair back, grabbing her weapons. She rushed over to the magical tower where the Nein's friend resided. She pounded on the door, shouting to be let in. This earned her some strange glares from people passing by. The door was answered by the short goblin assistant. "The master has asked you to come in," he said, leading her in. As she walked in she slammed the door, rushing past the short man up the stairs. As soon as she found the wizard she rapidly explained what happened. His eyes widened, also filled with rage. He grabbed his spell components, preparing himself too. Upon the demand of the red woman, he sent a message to her lover. "You pissed someone off again and now they took Luc. Who was it?" he asked speedily. He waited a few minutes till he received a response. "It's this group of gem thieves. I helped the guards find them, check the slums of the city. Tell me if you need help." her lover responded. Yussa relayed the message to Marion, the two rushing down to the slums. It began to get late after hours of searching. Eventually, it was too late for them to find anything, so they went home to rest. Once home, Marion fell into her lover's arms, crying. Soon she fell asleep, worrying the whole night. She woke up early the next day, having a quick breakfast, and immediately running to start searching again. She found where they were hiding, only to find they had quickly left. They searched for clues, finally finding a very filled set of journals the idiots seemingly left behind. There were simply too many to go through quickly. They scooped up every journal they could, eventually having 20 in their arms. The pair rushed back to the tower, immediately began reading. The two sat and did next to nothing but read before they found something."I know where they are!!" Marion shouted, tears running down her cheeks. She rushed over to the wizard, slamming the book down and pointing to a line in the book. It read: Outside of town, 1 hour, south, pick up food for the boy. The pair bolted through the town, finding the stable. They each bought a horse, at a discount, due to Marion being who she is. The two mounted the horses, running in the direction the book indicated. They made the horses sprint till they damn near stopped from exhaustion. She jumped off the horse upon seeing the small camp. She pulled out her rapier, a gift from her daughter, and was slashing left to right. She managed to kill half the camp, while the wizard did the other half. As soon as the camp was slaughtered, the wizard dropped from exhaustion. "Luc?! Luc where are you?!" Marion shouted, her voice cracking. "Aunty? Aunty, I'm over here!!" Luc called back, he sounded scared. Marion rushed over to the tent where she heard him. The zip on the tent was stuck but that wouldn't stop the mother's instincts. She tore open the tent with her adrenaline-filled hands. She peered in, seeing the little boy. She fell to her knees, pulling him into her arms. She squeezed him tight, quickly examining his body to ensure no damage. Thankfully he wasn't hurt, she scooped him up and put him on the horse. She turned to the wizard, pulling him up to his feet. She helped him back on his horse. She climbed on her horse with the young boy sitting between her legs in front of her. This time she slowly made her way back to the city. It took a very long time to get there, the horses being exhausted. They arrived again in the town the next morning. That's when the woman remembered the parents were returning soon. She scurried back to the house, helping the boy bathe and get changed. She got herself cleaned and changed. After this adventure, they went to town to buy whatever they wanted. Marion made sure to tell Luc that his parents don't need to know about the...adventure they had. Luc agreed, knowing how his parents would react. After about an hour of shopping, they returned to the home right as the kids' parents were walking up. She smiled and passed the kid off to the parents. "Did you have fun kiddo?" asked Veth, looking between the two. Luc nodded. "We had so much fun, mommy! We played at the park lots and went swimming and-" he carried on telling his parents about what he "did". As they walked off, Luc looked back at Marion. She winked and made a funny face at him. She let out a sigh of relief and returned back to her home.~Fin~
