Chapter 16: It's Christine Daae, not Christine Dying.

I liked Jason.

I, Brianna Huntley, liked Jason Gilbert, my former sworn enemy.

Wow. I never could have guessed I'll feel that. I couldn't help smile as I remembered the way Jason's blue eyes shone when he was smiling, the way his light brown hair catches the light, the way he flexed his muscles, the way he...

Focus, Anna.

Right.

Of course.

I had just finished a questioning and was in my bedroom trying get one of those end of topic homework done. I never understood why they question me again and again, I mean, my answers were the same every single time.

No, I don't know how you can get Venetia.

I was in the forest that day, reading a book.

No, I didn't steal my father's statue.

No, I didn't murder Cordelia.

See? The answers were all the same. I sighed and tried to focus on my homework.

When did I even learn that?

I sighed again took a photo of the question with my phone and send it to Jason.

Have I learn that yet? Bx

The reply came almost immediately.

Yup.

I thought u r in class?

I am. But I don't rly give a dang abt wt Georgina is saying.

I couldn't help but smile.

Won't she c u and scold u?

No, she'll just ask me to answer a question which I think she's gonna do real soon. Listen.

I frowned, listen? Listen to what. Suddenly my phone rang. It was Jason.

"Hello?" I said. No reply came, I could only hear Ms Georgina's voice droning on and on in the background. I was about to hang up when my phone buzzed. I pulled it away from my ear to see I had a brew message. From Jason. I could still hear Ms Georgina's voice.

Listen and learn.

So I started to listen to Ms Georgina while texting Jason. Maybe she was saying something I should know?

Learn wt?

Be a good girl and you will know.

What's that supposed to mean?

"Mr. Gilbert?" Me Georgina's voice came, louder this time.

"Yes, ma'am?" Jason said, I could almost see Jason's 'innocent' smile.

"What have I been talking about?" Ms Georgina asked in a nasty voice.

"The essay, ma'am."

"Thanks for stating the obvious, Mr. Gilbert. But what exactly was I saying about the essay?"

"That it's very important and you want us to quote from books, classic ones. And then you started talking about how we should all read Pride and Prejudice, and then you said we shouldn't quote from books like I Am Number Four or something like that." Jason answered without missing a beat. I heard Ms Georgina puff in the background.
