Chapter 20: Never been so happy to see the door!

22 Dec

"Mom! I found one!" I called, picking up a box and climbing up the stairs.

"Okay!! Good job!! Still two more left?" Mom called back from the kitchen.

"Um, lemme see" I said, as I put the box down and starting counting the other boxes. "One big and two small ones!"

"Make that two small ones." Ash said, putting down another box.

"Alright! We'll find them!" Jason called from the basement.

"Okay, come on, big bro. Let's check to see if all these boxes have the word 'Xmas' one them." I said, peering at the boxes.

"Okay, here's the last two." Trisha said as she and Jason put down the two boxes.

"Wait, hold on. This one has no writings, it's probably full of Dad's old stuff. That means one's missing," Ashton said, taking the box. "I'll go and look for it." Just then, Dad came in.

"The lights are done?" Jason asked. Dad had gone out to put the christmas lights on the roof.

"Yup. Have you kids found all the boxes?" Dad asked.

"Uh, Ash's getting the last one. And there he is." I said, pointing at Ash who was carrying a box into the living room.

"Great, we can start decorating then," Dad said. "Come on, lets open up these boxes." We nodded our heads and started opening the boxes. After getting everything sorted, Mom finished making the snacks and we, of course, ate all of them. Then, we started to decorate the house. The cabin, obviously, was not as big as our house, it's probably just a quarter of our house, but I loved it. First, it makes decoration easier and secondly, it was where we could have some real family time and live like normal people.

"Okay, so, as usual, boys, go and clear up the snow outside and put up the outdoor decorations. Girls, do the ground floor ones. Mom and I will do the second floor ones." Dad said. We nodded and started getting our boxes. Mom then put on some Christmas music and we started decorating.

We hanged the Christmas socks above the fireplace (I know, cliche, right? But what can I say, it looks nice!), put up Christmas garlands. Then we started sticking snowflakes particularly everywhere. Afterwards, we took out other ornaments, including a nutcracker, a nativity stable, a gingerbread house, and other Christmas stuff, and placed them around the ground floor. Last but not least, we put a mistletoe at the entrance of the living room.

We finished decorating the living room soon and decided to go outside to 'help' the guys.

We went out to see Jason and Ashton putting out the Santa Claus and reindeer. Then Ashton started rummaging through the box while Jason started taking out stuff. We then slowly made our way to behind the bushes, which was covered in a lot of snow.

I made a small snowball and aimed it at Jason, which landed on his head. I stifled a laugh. Trisha gestured me to follow her, so we crept to another bush.

"Ow!" Jason cried, rubbing his head, he turned to Ash. "Dude! What the hell?!"

Ashton looked up at him weirdly.

"What happened?"

"What happened? You freaking threw a snowball at me!"

"No, I didn't! Lo-" Ashton began, by then Trisha aimed a snowball at him, hitting his arm.
