"Deku? That's not my name!"

"Oh yeah! Well it should be! Cus you're a Deku!"

"That doesn't even make sense!"

"Yes it does!"

"Does not!

"Does too!"

"Not!"

"To!

"I don't care what you say! My name isn't Deku!"

"Mine isn't Kacchan!"

"When did I-"

The equivalent to what Izuku just felt was 'oh shrimp'. Izuku basically outed himself. Luckily the name didn't bring up memories. Katsuki had a strange feeling about it. He just couldn't place where he's heard it before, but it made him feel weird. He didn't like it. It bothered him, lingered in the back of his mind.

"I-im sorry for calling you t-that B-bakugou..."

Bakugou smiled in triumph. This. This is what he wanted. Everyone to cower below him because he was better. He is better. Izuku was just a temporary thorn in his side, nothing more, nothing less. He would not be bested by some random new kid who acted like he owned the place first day.

"Serves you right, Deku!"

"That's not my name. My name is Izuku Mid- Aizawa. Call me by that! Not Deku!"

"As if! You stupid Deku! You're just a useless nerd who can't do anything but cry! Useless like your name!"

Izuku was about to do two things: hit his ex-friend or cry. That's all he could do. Or had the confidence, ability, and logic, to do. If he did anything else he'd be in trouble or forever remember this at 3 am while trying to sleep. Instead, he chose to continue using his words. Fighting isn't the answer... yet.

"At least I can cry! All you do is hurt people! You'll never be a he-"

Izuku stopped himself. He was upset at the boy, yes, but he didn't mean what he almost said. He knew that the other would be a hero, a great one even. He was on his side, even if Bakugou hated it. Even if Bakugou pushed him away, hit him, berated him, or even abused him, he'd be on his side. Because that right there was his best friend, no matter how flawed.

"I'll never be what?! Hah?? WHAT WERE YOU GONNA SAY?!"

And this is the time Izuku decided to make a new option: run. He turned around and ran so quick he almost flew. Bakugou took about 3 seconds to recognize what just happened and go after him. He wouldn't let the other get away this time, after all, he was the best. He was entitled to answers. That's just how it was and always will be.

"Get back here Deku!!!!!"

Izuku obviously didn't stop. This was a subject of life or death to the 5 year old. Well, not exactly, but it was close enough. Being stuck in that state was worse than dying to him anyway. At least all that would happen was he'd be put in a black bag and whisked away in a car. Though, he didn't want to know what it felt like. Getting shot was enough excitement for the rest of his life.

Still despite being able to handle a piece of his arm being blown off, he ran like he'd never even experienced a paper cut.

He might be small, but today was the day he learned he could outrun the best athlete in their kindergarten. How comforting. From behind the school to the playground and the front gate. He ran, and boy was he quick.

Lunch was almost over, the teacher started to call kids in. Izuku stopped at the front gate. He couldn't leave, and he had to go back the way he came to get to the door. Small problem, Bakugou was back the way he came. Which clearly made this a bad decision. He had options once more.
