Gerald Lewis had no idea just how right he would turn out to be, for no sooner do the girls arrive at the Carnival, then they become the unwilling passengers of a roller-coaster ride, which led to a hallway made of the same DNA-altering mirrors that had changed Sam so drastically. There they encountered the diabolical Ringmaster, who declared his aim to change people into freakish and unwilling members of his circus, which he planned to make 'the greatest show on earth'. As the Ringmaster and his underlings, the Wolf-Man and the Elastic-Lady began to send their captives through the mutating mirrors, the carriage holding Alex and Clover speeded down the track towards one such mirror...

"Oh no, we're next!" yelped Alex as she and Clover struggled fruitlessly against the restraints keeping them in their seats. A second later, their carriage went straight through the mirror, but as it came out the other side, the two girls seemed initially unaffected.
"Phew! That was close!" breathed Alex. "The mirrors don't seem to have affected us."
"I don't know, Alex. I feel kinda weird..." Clover managed to say, before she unexpectedly started to fade into thin air!
"Eek! Clover, you're turning invisible!" cried out Alex, before she suddenly found herself shrinking in size, until she was no more than six inches tall! At the same time, a pair of fluttering wasp-like wings appeared on her back, enabling her to hover in the air like a human-fly.
"Whoa, this is way freaky!" exclaimed a tiny Alex as she flew out of the carriage, while in the opposite seat, an unseen Clover could be heard straining against her restraints.
"This is a total nightmare! How can I attract cute boys if they can't even see me?" Clover fumed as the Wolf-Man advanced menacingly on her.
"Hang on, Clover, I'm coming!" called Sam, as she remembered that she now had super-human strength, enabling her to break free from her restraints and leap out of her car. Firing another web-line, she swung across the corridor and launched herself at the Wolf-Man, her feet colliding right with his face, knocking him out cold.
"Take that, fur-ball," smirked Sam, before her new spider-sense started buzzing and she suddenly realised that a furious Elastic-Lady was now stretching herself right towards the super-powered spy.
Seeing the super-villain about to attack Sam, Clover instinctively reached out a hand, whereupon an invisible barrier formed between Sam and the Elastic-Lady. Before the mutated villainess knew what was happening, she crashed right into the invisible wall and collapsed to the floor, completely out cold.
"OMG! Did I do that?" asked Clover in wonder, as Sam came over and pulled Clover's restraints off her. As Clover clambered out, she began to fade back into view.
"Hey Clover, I can see you again," smiled Sam in relief.
"Yeah, I just concentrated and turned visible again," said an equally thankful Clover. "Guess I have some control over this invisibility thing."
Meanwhile, the Ringmaster had decided to take flight, having seen his underlings get defeated so easily by the spies. But as he turned to head for the exit, his eye-sight suddenly blurred like crazy.
"Gah! What's going on?" he spluttered.
The answer was that the now minuscule Alex, flying on her new wings, had started zooming around the Ringmaster's head, moving so fast in front of his eyes that she was completely obscuring his vision.
"Not so fast, pal!" she said furiously. "No-one turns me into a human-wasp and gets away with it!"
As Alex tried to throw out a punch, she was taken aback when a bio-electric blast shot out of her hand, stinging the Ringmaster right in the side of his neck. With a anguished cry, he was immediately sent to dreamland as he lost his balance and fell to the ground with a loud thump.
"Nice going, Alex!" said Sam as she finished using her webs to truss up the other two villains, while Clover freed the other passengers from the roller-coaster carriages.
"Thanks," smirked Alex as she concentrated for a second, before resuming her normal size in the blink of an eye, the wings on her back disappearing from view. "Phew, that's better! We better call Jerry to get this place cleaned up."

It took just a short time for the WOOHP clean-up crew to arrive, and soon the Ringmaster and his crew were taken away to the containment facility, while the remaining prisoners were freed and taken to have their mutations reversed before they could be sent home.
"Good job, ladies," Jerry congratulated the girls as the carnival with its mirrors were dismantled around them. "You'll be pleased to hear the WOOHP scientists have worked out how to reverse the effects of the mirrors, so everyone should be turned back to normal."
"That's great Jerry," smiled Sam. "But actually, the three of us have been talking and we've kinda decided to keep our new powers."
"Yeah, they've been really useful in taking down those baddies," agreed Clover. "We were able to stop this Freaky Circus thing before it could go any further."
"Totally!" nodded Alex. "And if we practiced a bit and got the hang of these powers, it'll make our jobs a hundred times easier."
"Hmm, you may have a point there," considered Jerry. "Very well, I don't see why we shouldn't give your new abilities a trial run."
"Awesome!" said Clover. "Just one thing though. If we're going to be like superheroes now, we may have to redesign our uniforms to match our powers."
"And perhaps come up with some catchy codenames as well," added Alex. "I figured 'the Wasp' is as cool a name as any for me."
"Then I guess that makes me 'the Invisible Girl," said Clover. "How about you, Sammy?"
"Well, as Alex said earlier, I'm a real Spider-Woman now, so that's the title I'll go with," grinned Sam. "Well ladies, I guess our lives have totally changed forever!"
