It took the WOOHP stealth plane just fifteen minutes to reach New York, and soon the jet was flying over the city, as the spies onboard tried to find some clue as to where Makeda and her men were hiding out with their hostages.
"Nothing," muttered Wasp, who had been peering through the window, in an attempt to use some M-Ray contact lenses to spot the baddies in one of the buildings. Instead, she saw a look of people busy with their normal routines, as well as some things that Alex wished deep down that she had not seen!
"It sure is a pity our powers don't include super-vision," commented Invisible Girl. "Any luck with the old spider-sense, Spidey?"
"Sorry, Invisible Girl," sighed Spider-Woman. "Aside from that mugging we just had to foil on the way here, my Spider-Sense hasn't been detecting any great dangers on the streets below."
As the girls had gotten more used to their powers over the last couple of years, they tended now to address each other by their superhero names while on their missions, a sign of how much they had accepted the superhuman sides of their lives.
"There's still an area in the Lower East Side to check," said Britney, who was piloting the plane. "Hang on, everyone, I'll do a quick flyover for that sector."
Britney flew the plane over the relevant area of the city, and as they came over a disused warehouse, Sam's spider-sense started buzzing like crazy.
"Whoa, hold up, team! I think we may have something!" called Spider-Woman.
Wasp quickly looked down at the warehouse below and scanned it with the M-Ray lenses, a broad smile appearing on her face as she realised that they had hit the jackpot.
"Bingo!" she said elatedly. "That's Makeda's lair, all right! Looks like she's got Mister Stark and Dr Yinsen building some kind of hi-tech armoured suit, and one of her men is holding Miss Potts at gunpoint."
"How many mercenaries does Makeda have, Wasp?" asked Invisible Girl.
"About thirty or so," said Wasp as she removed the M-Ray lenses from her eyes. "Not exactly an army, but they still look pretty tough to beat."
"Then we'll need to handle this stealthily, so we can lessen the risk of any of the hostages getting hurt," said Spider-Woman. "Britney, you better stay here on the plane on standby in case we need backup later on."
"Sure thing, Spider-Woman," said Britney, as she set the plane into a holding pattern over the warehouse and opened the plane's entry hatch, enabling the others to leap out and land stealthily on the rooftop of the warehouse.
Satisfied that they had not been seen, the superspies made their way quietly to the nearest window and peered through the grubby glass, where they could see two armed men on guard duty.
"Okay, time for 'Operation Stealth Punch'?" whispered Wasp, who had already shrunk down to insect-size.
Spider-Woman nodded in agreement, and Invisible Girl then used her mental forcefield powers to create an invisible window cutter, which she then used to cut a small circle in the glass. Spider-Woman then pressed a finger against the circle, and used her sticking abilities to gently pulled the cut glass out of the window, leaving a miniscule hole about the size of a coat button, through which the Wasp was able to fly through. As Wasp flew towards the centre of the room, one of the guards noticed the faint buzzing sound that her beating wings made.
