My name is Y/N Romanoff, I was taken from my family and put into an awful place called the Red Room at a very young age. I then was taken out and put into a fake family at the age of eight.  We were placed in Ohio.

I have a little sister named Yelena, even though it's not real I like having a pretend family. Mom and dad, Melina and Alexei seem to really care about us.

1995 -

I liked Ohio, I was friends with the neighbors and I loved going to school. Yelena is too young to understand, she thinks this is all real. I envied how innocent she is.

Today I took a ride through town on my bike, I made sure to make my way home around dinner time just like every day. As I ride onto our street my friends playing outside run into the street, "Hi, Y/N!" They all wave at me.

I wave and turn into my driveway, jumping off my bike and starting to whistle as I see Yelena swinging. Yelena jumps off and whistles back, she giggles as I flip into a back bend. She then copies me and smiles. "We're both upside down." She giggles again.

"And I bet you're gonna fall down first." I laugh.

"No, you will. You can't hold it much longer."

After a few seconds, Yelena suddenly falls down. I laugh and stand as she starts to chase me, "Told you you'd fall down first. I told you! I told you! Told you so!" Yelena suddenly trips and hurts her knee. "Yelena!" I quickly slide down beside her.

"Mommy!" She pushes me back and starts to cry.

I sigh and walk back to the swings as mom comes out. "What happened?"

"She fell on her knee." I point.

"Oh, you bump your knee?"

"Mmm-hmm." Yelena softly cries.

"Oh...Kiss it better." Mom kisses her knee. "There we go. Oh, come on, little one. Get up. You're okay. Come on. You're a brave girl. Your pain only makes you stronger." She holds onto Yelena's hand and helps her up. "Right, you?" She points at me.

"Yeah." I nod.

"Yeah?"

"Look! Forest stars." Yelena points.

"Yeah. You know what? Those are actually part of the Lampyridae family. And the glow, the glow that you see, that comes from a chemical reaction called... bioluminescence. Come on, time for dinner."

"Bio-goomin-feasants?" Yelena repeats.

"Bio-goomin-feasants. That's right. Dinner! Come on, dinner, big girl!" Mom yells to me.

I run after them and shut the back door. "I want mac and cheese." Yelena says.

"Oh, you want mac and cheese? Okay. Well, I want... caviar and champagne. Grab the napkins. You take this. Thank you. Oh, would you grab the ranch dressing for Dad?" Mom asks me.

"Okay." I nod.

"Green beans are my favorite vegetable." Yelena smiles and walks to the table.

I open the fridge and look up as mom yells, "Dad's home!"

Dad comes walking in, looking stressed. "Hey, Dad." I smile up at him.

"Hey, baby." He walks over to me and kisses my head.
I shut the fridge and follow him to the table, sitting in front of Yelena. "How was everybody's day?"

"Mommy taught me about lamp bugs." Yelena giggles.

"Lamp bugs." Dad chuckles as I start to eat.
