Onceler's POV

Today was it, today is the day I'll finally show my family that I'm really worthy. I'll make them proud of me!

I made my way to the center of a small town, Greenville. I picked up my guitar confidently and started singing my heart out. People pointed and laughed at me, but I didn't care. I just knew one day I was going to be a huge success, and everybody would love me. They kept laughing, I ignored it but I happened to notice this person in the crowd watching me perform. They weren't laughing at me like the others... they were smiling. They actually enjoyed my singing? While singing my voice cracked, I stopped for a second and walked up to them.

"Ah... hi" I could feel myself blushing. I was probably redder than blood. But could you blame me? They were so gorgeous, the most adorable person I've ever seen.

"Hey..." she said with a smile. Gosh they're so cute. "You play guitar really well." No way they complimented me. I guess you could stay I was stunned. I could barely spit out a sentence after that.

"W- R- Me?! Wow, thanks! You're the first person to say that to me!... You're the first person to actually talk to me really." I laughed it off but knowing it really got my nerves that only one person took me seriously.

"Oh yeah, hey I'm sorry about that.. people can really be some peices of shit huh?" they laughed.

"Ha yeah.. yeah..." I couldn't stop staring at them, it might've seemed creepy but did I care? Not one bit. Hopefully they didn't notice me staring though.

"Oh I'm Y/N!" they said so cheerfully "You?"

"Huh?- oh right, I'm The Once-ler!" "You have a beautiful name by the way." I said with a grin.

"Thank you-"

I cut them off "Not only do you have a beautiful name, you are beautiful."

"Heh.. thanks" I could tell they were nervous, probably about what I just said. Damn it! I couldn't mess my chances up with them!

"Sorry sorry." I quickly apologized not trying to be looked at as a weirdo. There was an awkward silence before I changed the suject "Uhm... do you want to buy a Thneed?"

"A what? Ha... what does it do?"

"It can be anything you'd like!" I started demonstraded what the Thneed could do. Thankfully, they were impressed.

"Oh wow! That's so cool!" they said in awe. "You really think so?" I asked. "You don't think it's weird?"

"Not at all! How much does it cost?" they started pulling out their wallet. "Seriously?!" I couldn''t believe what was happening somebody actually wanted to buy my Thneed. "Yeah, it's awesome." I didn't say anything, just stood there in complete shock.

"Well? How much?" Oh shit, I stopped staring and told them the price. They really paid for it! My first costumer! I was so ecstatic. "Thank you, thank you thank you thank you!" All I could say was thank you. They wrapped the thneed around their neck, and they looked amazing wearing it.

"Well thanks, it was nice meeting you Once-ler!" I noticed they were walking away. They were... walking.. away. No. NO. I CANNOT let them leave me!

"Hey wait!" I grabbed them by the shoulder. "Uhm... did you maybe wanna.. go out and get a coffee or something?" I asked nervously, rubbing the back of my neck.

"Oh. Listen..." the smile from my face faded. "You seem like a nice guy but, I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet." As dissapointed as I was, I wasn't going to lash out on them. I didn't want to hurt their feelings...

"Ah. Well that's... fine. Friends then?" I put my hand out like I was going to give them a handshake or something. Geez what am I doing?

They shook my hand, "Friends." they smiled at me and I did the same. "See ya around Once-ler." my future partner said walking away.

I could not let them leave my side. I don't believe in love at first sight but I think I really fell in love with them.
