Sean POV
Ring! Ring! Ring!
I looked behind me. That sounded like someone's phone ringtone, and it certainly wasn't mine. Yibo was still fixated on his work, eyes not looking up from the screen of his laptop and fingers swiftly typing.
"Uhhh... boss? I think that is your phone that is ringing, you know." I said, walking across the room and handing his phone to him.
He looked up from the screen of his laptop and looked up at me.
"Oh? Ah, alright, thanks, Sean," he said as he picked up the call.
Who could be calling Yibo this early in the morning?
"Hey, Mr Li... is there anything you need...?" Yibo said, sounding partially annoyed, although I don't know what for as he turned on the speaker, looking back at his laptop.
"You can come early," the one named Mr Li said.
"Oh, okay. I got it. I'll arrive soon." Yibo said impatiently, hanging up on Mr Li.
"Boss, what happened?" I asked.
"We need to attend the meeting a little earlier, as Mr Li said just now," he replied as he retrieved the coat that hang on a chair and dragged me out with him. I felt puzzled at the events that were unfolding before me.
I tugged on his sleeve as we were walking out into the area where Yibo's chauffeur had been waiting all morning.
"Boss, I think you forgot to take your laptop with you...," I said.
"Oh yeah!" he exclaimed, handing me the room card. "Well, take this card and go get it back for me then."
"Yes, Boss," I replied, turning myself away and striding back to the hotel room and seeing the silhouette of Yibo vanish into the backseat.
Ten minutes later
Yibo POV
I looked around the car and out the windows, trying to glimpse if Sean was walking back towards the car. It's been ten minutes already. Why isn't he back with my laptop yet? Surely the journey to the room wouldn't take so long... right? I turned back. Could something have happened to him on the way? Wait... no... he CAN'T be... Should I just swoop in for a quick check on him to make sure he's doing alright? I blinked a few times, weighing what I should do. Should I check on him or should I wait? Ah, never mind... I'll just wait I guess.
"Ahh!" a voice cried out loud.
Oh, dear. Something DID happen!
I fumbled for the doorknob and quickly threw open the door to make way for me to come out. I ran to where I saw Sean lying on the floor with some small scratches peppering his face and arms, and blood seeping out from some of them.
"Ahh! It hurts!" he cried out again, wincing involuntarily.
I scooped him into my arms.
"Umm Boss, I still haven't got your laptop... It's lying near that fallen bicycle... it's better if you take it first because you have essential information and research stored in there," Sean said, looking up at me.
"Laptop, laptop, laptop," I scolded him. "You're already bleeding and you're still caring for an inanimate object that should supposedly be more important than your own safety?!"
