A few hours later, when I calmed down, I cleaned up everything and I went to pick up Juliet from my mom. I didn't say much, I just took her and left.

At the end of the day, I had come up with so many scenarios of consequences that my confession could cause and almost all of them are not good.

I just sit on the couch and I hug Juliet with all my strength "It's too early for you to understand this but whatever happens, I want to know that I love you, and daddy loves you. We both love you so much, that's for sure. You are so loved baby girl. You are so loved and wanted..." a sob escapes my lips again. "And you should never forget that" I add as I rub her back.

I hear the door unlock and, quickly, I wipe my new tears.
"Hey..." I hear Aaron's voice

"Hey" I reply but I don't turn to look at him.

"I brought you a copy of the case files in case you want to take a look at them before coming to work tomorrow" he says

"Thanks, I'm gonna go inside to feed her and I'll read them later" I say as I get up

"I can do it if you have a bottle ready" he offers

"No, we're good. There is dinner in the oven for you too" I say as I carry her into her room

"Did you eat already or should I wait for you?" he asks but I just shut the door closed.

I was hoping that he will eat and be asleep by the time I came out of the room but he wasn't.

So, in order to avoid him, I went for a shower and when I return he was still waiting for me in the kitchen.

"Are you done avoiding me now?" he asks but I don't answer.
"Can we talk like adults?" he asks

"What is there to talk about?" I ask

"You are mad--" he says but I interrupt him

"No, Aaron, I'm not mad. I'm hurt. But I can't force you to feel something that you clearly don't. It's ok though. I'm getting used to being unwanted" I say and I turn to walk away but he stops me

"Wait, no, you can't just throw a bomb like this and walk away" he says

"And you can't expect me to get over it right away. But I will, eventually" I say, taking the case files and I sit down at the kitchen table.

"Aren't you going to eat first?" he asks

"I'm not hungry" I answer.

"The case is in your hometown so I understand if you want to sit out on it" he says

"No, it's fine" I reply as I open the first file.

He lets me read quietly as he ate and puts a plate for me too which I didn't touch.

"Dinner was great, I missed how good you cook" he says trying to compliment me

"Yeah, you got used to maid Jo while I was on maternity leave" I reply.

"Ok, I think I'm gonna go to sleep" he says, trying to not get me even madder

"Oh, can you just bring my pillow to the couch so I won't wake you up later?" I ask

"Why would you sleep on the couch?" he asks but I don't answer.
"Josephine, I'm so sorry. I don't want to hurt you and I hate seeing you like this. Please, tell me how I can help" he says

"What I want, I can't have it. But I hope that she gives you what you need. She seems nice" I say and he gives me a sad smile.

"Yeah, Beth is really nice" he says
