"C'mon, we need to find out where everyone went," Yumie said, already jogging over to the escalators which had stopped working. Tadami was opposed to the exploration, fearing that they would face great danger if they didn't stay in his apartment.

Tadami really had no choice, he'd rather not have Yumie go out by herself and explore this desolated version of Tokyo. He knew that if he didn't go she would just go by herself.

"Something bad might happen out there," Tadami reminded, worried about the safety of not only himself but the female snake. The tiny mouse's safety was not a concern to him. Nezumi could die for all he cared, the two snakes would be better off without the mouse squeaking.

One day they'd all be dead because of the tiny squeaks the mouse let out. That is unless the two snakes finally decided to go in for a bite.

Nezumi was still confused, not being able to process what was going on as fast as the snakes. After all, they were both smarter than her. Whether it came down to manipulation or knowing equations, Yumie and Tadami always remained superior to Nezumi.

They let Nezumi use them, they could easily attack her at any moment and scare her away, but they knew better than to do that. Her parents always would come in and protect her, leaving the girl to be defenseless once they were gone.

  Nezumi was defenseless now.

"How did everyone disappear?" Nezumi asked, slowly processing the new world they were in. Yumie and Tadami ignored her, already walking down the escalator stairs.

When they reached the first floor, it was completely desolate. All the people that had been rushing outside to see the fireworks and the car crash were gone. Just in the period it took the three to get out of the elevator, all the people in Shibuya completely disappeared.

There was no sign of life. It was so quiet that Yumie could hear the thumping of her Doc Martens against the concrete.

"The cars that crashed are gone," Tadami observed, curious as to where they would have gone. The snakes knew something was wrong, they could feel it in their cold blood. The mouse knew it too, feeling a sense of paranoia and eeriness.

  Tokyo truly was deserted.

All objects that required electricity to be used were turned off, leaving an unsettling quietness that was odd to hear in a place like Tokyo. The light wind let out the faintest cry, being the only noise that could be heard besides the footsteps of the three.

Tadami attempted to start one of the cars in the Dōgenzaka Garage parking lot that still had the key in the keyhole, but the car refused to start. Yumie tried another one, but it had the same result.

Frustrated, Tadami pulled out his phone to check for the date and time. Maybe it would point him to some sort of theory. After the phone wouldn't automatically turn on, he began to frantically press the on button.

His phone remained on a black screen. "This was fully charged before we left my apartment," he muttered in disbelief. Something was seriously wrong.

"Yumie," he paused to catch the attention of the female snake, "can you check if your phone will turn on? You too, Nezumi."

Both of the women grabbed their phones out of their pockets, experiencing the same problem.

"The power is off, anyway. We wouldn't be able to do anything if our phones worked," Yumie reasoned, stuffing her phone in her pocket.
