Hey everyone! Here’s the next chapter! Sorry it took so long!

Sea Sisters

Chapter 2

Ohmigosh. I just saw a MERMAID!!! But is that even possible? Am I just seeing things? I close my eyes and think about what I just saw. Yep, she defiantly had a tail. So that means…

“MERMAIDS ARE REAL!!” Wait, who just said that? I notice my mouth is open. Oh, it was me.

I can’t believe it! I can’t wait to tell dad about this! I hop off of the rocks and start to run for the beach house. I feel the wind flow with me, as I run along the sea shore. I start to go faster and faster, laughing, and tripping occasionally. As I see the light of my house, I start to slow down, trying to catch my breath. Suddenly, I hear it again. The singing/moaning. I whip my head to the sea, scanning for the mermaid. I finally see her on the same boulder she was on before, but instead of brushing her hair, she’s waving her hands frantically at me, and shaking her head back and forth. I see her mouthing the word “no”. She knows English! But what is she trying to tell me? As I stare into her eyes, I see fear, horror, and fright.

I understand now. She doesn’t want me to tell anyone. It makes sense now. She stopped waving her hands and shaking her head. I stare at her for a few more minutes, then finally nod my head. She looks at me, nods her head, then dives back into the water. I stare at the boulder where she was for a little longer, then head inside. As I go inside, I’m greeted by the warmth of a crackling fire. My father is in his Lazy Boy chair, with a cup of tea and a chapter book.

“Do you realize what time it is?” My father says, without looking up from his book. I glance over at the clock, 9:30 pm. Oops.

“I’m sorry Dad, I didn’t know, it’s just that I-”

“Don’t give me any excuses!” He looks up from his book, “You were supposed to be back at 8:00 Samantha! You know how I feel about you bein too close to the water! You know what happened to your mother!”

I stare at him, tears forming in my eyes. Mom… I start to feel anger bubble in my stomach.

“I’m the closest thing to mom you have! If you love me, YOU WILL LET ME LIVE MY LIFE THE WAY I WANT TO LIVE IT! I WISH MOM WAS HERE INSTEAD OF YOU!”

I storm up to my room before he can say anything. The tears rolling down my face. I burst into my room and slam the door shut. I flop myself gown on my bed, and cry. I pull my covers up over my head and curl up into a little ball. I fumble around for my Killer Whale stuffie. I clutch it close to my heart. Father gave it to me, but he said it was from mom, said it would always protect me and always be by my side. I’ve had it for a long time, fourteen years now? I never even knew my mother. I cradle it in my arms and finally cry myself to sleep.
