30. The King's Girlfriend

Dream POV

When I wake up, Y/N isn't beside me in bed. I panic and bolt up. There's a figure outlined by the dawn rays standing on the balcony watching the sunrise. The purple netherite armor glimmering and shimmering in the light. I walk over to the balcony and stand by her side. She notices me.

"It's only 5:30 am," she says. "You can go back to sleep."

"Why are you up then?" I ask.

"Just wanted to see the sunrise."

We stand there watching the golden rays creep up the hill.

"Everything the light touches is your kingdom," she smiles.

"Our kingdom," I correct.

"What?"

"Y/N," I say looking deep into her eyes. "Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes," she smiles.

I pull her in for a kiss and we stay there for a minute before pulling away.

"I'll be your girlfriend, by your side as much as I can, a knight, and your helper."

"Mmmm," I hum and kiss her neck softly.

"Now let's go back to bed," Y/N says, steering me towards the bed. "You still have a day of being king ahead of you."

I reluctantly climb into the bed and lie down. Although I don't want to, I'm asleep within minutes with her snuggled against me.

I wake up again to the bright sunlight on my face. I squint and burrow deeper into the fabric. I look up and find myself snuggled against Y/N's chest. I remember professing my love earlier this morning by asking her to be my girlfriend.

"Good morning Dream," she says.

"Morning," I say sitting up to stretch.

"You have to be in the throne room in ten minutes to talk to your attackers. Then you need to call a Knight Meeting in the Meeting Room. Breakfast will be served in the song hall before the meeting."

"So busy," I groan.

I change into another lime green hoodie, black jeans, and socks, while Y/N helps me put my armor on. I put on my belt and slide the axe and sword into the sheaths. I pick up my shield and crown placing it on my head. I grab my white smiley face mask and place it on. I feel more intimidating using the mask. I fasten on my lime green cloak and twirl around letting it float around me like silk.

"Ready?" Y/N asks, already dressed in her armor.

"Yeah."

"Alright let's go."

We walk down the staircase into the throne room and I settle down on the throne. She stands beside me with her hand on my shoulder.

"Forgot to mention," she says. "Techno, Phil, and Wilbur are going to be here as well."

We're interrupted by shouting and the group of knights comes in dragging Tommy, Tubbo, Quackity, and Jack. They kick and flail but the shackles hold strong. Sapnap hoists Tommy up so he can face me. All of them see me with my mask and their faces show confusion, anger, fear, and curiosity.

"Tommy," I say standing up.

"Why are you wearing that mask prick? Scared of showing your face?" Tommy says mockingly earning him a jab from Sapnap's sword.

"Ow, you fucking dickhead," Tommy says and Sapnap kicks him angrily.

"Why did you try to attack me on my coronation day?" I ask.

"Why do you think?" Quackity bursts out. "Your not fit to be king and nobody likes you"

I feel my face get hot under the mask but it hides my anger well. I try to maintain my calm.

"I would disagree, everyone seems content and I've helped establish a new village that they're all happy in. I'd they hated me so much, they wouldn't have so much fun at the coronation party."

"I bet it was wonderful," Jack says bitterly.

"You could have been there," I point out with my arms crossed. "You weren't part of the kingdom but I would have invited you, you didn't seem to want to attend."

"You're a fucking asshole!" Tommy yells. "All you want to do is create chaos and manipulate people into doing what you want!"

"Wait Tommy," Tubbo says. "You remember right? That's not the truth."

"Tommy, I would watch what you say."

Phil, Techno, and Wilbur enter the castle. The knights part, leaving a space for them.

"Phil?!"

They all gasp including the knights.

"Back and revived," Phil says. "I dunno how though and it wasn't Dream."

"Philll," Tommy wines. "Get me out of this mess and tell them that Dream's a bad king."

"I disagree, Tommy," Techno says. "I think that Dream would make a fine king."

"I agree," says Wilbur.

"Well," Phil says. "Is there any evidence right now to prove that he's a bad leader?"

"Well no, but in the past—" Tommy begins.

"Exactly Tommy!" Phil snaps back at him. "You're basing it on the past but things have changed and people have moved on. We're all trying to start fresh and new and accept some people when they say they're going to change. You four are the only ones unwilling to accept the fact!"

Tommy glares at Phil.

"We're done here," I say. "Take them back to the dungeons. Knights, meet with me in the Meeting Room after breakfast."

They bow and leave, taking the prisoners with them.

"Would you like to stay in the village a bit longer?" I ask them.

"Actually," Techno says. "Could we build a house in the village for when we come to visit but leave it vacant the rest of the time?"

"Yes of course. I say just make sure people know it belongs to you and that it's not just some walk-in house."

"Thank you," they say bowing and leaving the castle.

"See that wasn't so bad," Y/N says.

I almost forgot she was there. She had been so quiet the entire time.

"It was, I want to forgive Tommy and the rest of them but they're not making it easy."

"It's not going to be easy but you have to be patient. They're not going anywhere so give it time," she assures.

I pull her closer to me and press her against the wall. I run my fingers down her cheek and onto her neck. I kiss her soft full lips until she pulls away.

"It's time for breakfast," she says, the bell rings in the distance.

"Race you there!" I say with a grin as we take off to the dining room.

Do you guys prefer chapters with more or less than 1,000 words? Just want to know so I can adjust chapter lengths in the future. Or is 1,000 words a good length?
