Dream POV

I wake up to be back in the prison, wearing my old prison clothes. The lava parts and reveals Sam and Y/N kissing. They walk towards me.

Y/N laughs and shoves me into the lava. I scream trying to escape the heat blistering on my body.

"Did you really think I cared about you?" she laughs. "Sam's way better"

They kiss again as the lava closes around me.

I bolt awake panting and breathing heavily. Y/N sits beside me looking confused and worried.

"You okay?" she asks.

"Y—yeah," I say unconvincingly.

"Do you feel safe?"

I pause and stare into her Y/E/C eyes.

Without saying anything, she gets off the bed and heads to her armor stand. She fully suits up and grabs her belt and sword. She sticks the sword in its sheath and walks back to me.

I back up hurriedly against the back of the bed headboard out of fear. She climbs back onto the bed with me.

"I'll stay awake to guard you tonight," she says.

"N—no," I stutter out. "Please."

"Why not?"

"I—I—I—"

"Tell me the truth," she says calmly. "Lies will only hurt you."

"I don't trust you!" I burst out. "I feel scared that you're in full netherite with a sword and could kill me at any time in my sleep!"

I start to get off the bed but she lunges out and grabs me by my stomach.

"Let go!" I say shoving ineffectively at her.

Y/N ignores me and pulls me into her lap. Her arms wrap around my torso. I continue to protest and push but it doesn't do anything.

"Let go of me!" I yell.

"You need to learn to trust me! I know that others have betrayed you in the past and each betrayal stabs you deeper but you need to try and heal from that! The first step is to trust me! I wouldn't kill you if I went through that much trouble to break you out!" she yells, tightening her grip on my waist

I continue to yell and protest but I'm cut off by her hand resting on my head.

The flashbacks of a hand smacking me in the head come back.

"Please," I whisper. I turn to look at her pleadingly. "Don't hit me, I'll be good, I won't fight, just please." A few tears begin to run down my face.

Y/N hushes me, pulling my body into a sitting position on her lap. My body curls in as tight as possible, my head resting on her shoulder.

"No—, please," I sob. The tears are mostly from fear but also embarrassment. I'm letting her see me like this. No one can see me weak.

Y/N's hand rests gently on my cheek before stroking it gently. Her other hand rubs calming circles on my back.

I try to focus on her steady heart beat and breathing, matching mine to hers.

After a few minutes, my breathing slows and I calm down. Her hand reaches to take mine, massaging it gently to relive some of the trembling.

"Better?" she asks, her head resting on mine.

"Yeah, thank you. That felt really good," I sigh.

"How about this?" Y/N suggests, placing me next to her again. "I'll guard you for the night and if you wake up again still feeling unsafe, I'll take off my armor and sleep with you okay?"

"Okay."

She gets off me and helps me under the covers, tucking me in and kissing my forehead. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep. This time no nightmares, no dreams. (Haha get it? Dreams? Dream? I'm so funny haha... I'll stop now)

Y/N POV

Was he crying? He seemed so afraid for some reason. Then I pulled him on my lap? Then I KISSED HIM? Why? It was the only way to calm him down. He enjoyed it. I enjoyed it to.

I've never felt affection for anyone like this before. I have to take the first steps in trust. He won't trust me until I trust him. I'll take the first steps and hopefully he follows.

I stroke his dirty blonde hair. He looks so peaceful when he sleeps. Caressing his pale cheeks. I could never imagine him being the big bad villain they say he is. The prison truly broke him. He's just sad and lonely. I hope to change that.
