After everything that had happened Fleur is pushing me more and more trying to get me to ask Cedric out since we are talking again and I'm not actually dating anyone anymore. Honestly Cedric and I are good now but we both seem to be acting differently, like I swear we are more flirty and couply with each other now then we were before.
That being said, I see Cedric make his way into the Great Hall and find a seat next to me giving me a kiss on the top of my head. I give him a smile as we start to eat breakfast where our friends talk and laugh with each other, and then try to figure out what the third task could be. As breakfast was about to end an owl flew up and landed in front of me with a letter in its beak.
Instantly recognizing the Owl as Jackson's I take the letter from its beak and give it the rest of my toast and hide the letter in my skirt pocket. "Who's owl was that?" Cedric asked as we were standing to go to class.
"Don't know, I think it accidentally landed in front of me or just wanted food." I lied with a shrug as I followed him to his class.
At the end of the day I sat alone in the dorm staring at the letter from Jackson. Slowly opening it I half way expected it to explode or to send a curse at me, but inside was the neat hand writing of Jackson Yaxley.
Dear Victoria,
I understand that you do not agree with the path my family has chosen for me. I'm choosing to disobey the Dark Lord and stay away from you. What that means for me I don't know but I hope for you to be happy and to find happiness with someone else. But for that to happen you need to survive this tournament. The third task will be a magical maze that in the middle will have an enchanted cup however the cup will be a portkey for you and Potter that will take you to the Dark Lord. If you truly wish to not join him do not touch the cup, and protect Potter it's your only chance. Stay safe, I love you.
Jackson Yaxley
Tears started to stream down my face as I reread the letter over and over again. The boy that I fell in love with was somewhere down there but he was far too buried to ever dig out. Tomorrow was the tournament and with this information I could prepare for the third task and be more ready then the other Champions and will be able to protect them, protect Harry and protect Cedric. All I have to do is make it to the Cup first.
Looking up at the tall hedges that have taken over the Quidditch Pitch I feel the exhaustion of staying up all night trying to learn new spells and trying how I could convince Harry and Cedric to not touch the cup. I bounce on my heels as I wait for Dumbledore to finish his speech and to introduce the Champions so the trail could start. Looking back and forth from the hedge maze in front of me back towards Cedric, he gives me a gummy smile and a thumbs up for good luck. Dumbledore has finished his big speech and is getting ready to send Cedric and Harry into the maze, next would be me then to Krum. With the sound of a cannon that shook the stadium Cedric and Harry go sprinting into the maze.
God they're gonna be miles in front of me by the time I get in. 10 minutes, that's how long it was till the canon blew again. For a millisecond my body froze and then the adrenaline kicked in and I sprinted into the maze, hitting dead after dead end. Looking around trying to think of what to do, the walls around me started to close in forcing me to run, every turn and path looked the same. I can't tell if I'm running toward the Cup or away. Another dead end, turning around tornados of wind, seemed to have filled the maze. Looking back behind me in a panic I noticed the wall disappeared, a clear path to the Tournament Cup.
Sprinting down the path that is now opened, I watched as it slowly started to close reaching the now dead end I slammed my hands against the wall, letting out a scream I turn around and run down the first open path I see, following the path I freeze as I see Cedric and Harry standing around the glowing cup. "No!" I scream as I see the two of them reach to grab at the same time. Cedric turned his head to look at me with wide eyes as I grabbed onto his sleeve and felt the portkey pull me with them.
Being thrown on the ground, I feel cold grass underneath me as Cedric and Harry are standing up. Pushing off the ground I look up to see that I am in a graveyard. Harry has a worried look as he whips his head around, Cedric is bent down in front of the cup, whispering about how it must have been a Portkey. Harry looked at a gravestone and fear crossed his face. "Cedric! Victoria! Get to the Cup!" Harry yelled as he ran over to us.Cedric stood straight up giving Harry a look of confusion.
"Kill the extra." I hear a barely audible raspy voice croak out. A small man came out of the shadow pointing his wand towards Cedric.
"Avada Kedavra!"
"No!" I yell as I dive in front of Cedric and get hit by the spell and being thrown back into him.I feel Cedric drop to the ground as he keeps his arms wrapped around me.
"Vicky. Vicky keep your eyes open. Please." Is the last thing I hear Cedric sob as my vision goes blurry and I black out.
