I came back at 8:30 very well knowing I am 3 hours late, what am I going to say to dad, god please help me make sure that dad isn’t home yet, please.

“You are late Thanit.” dad said sternly.

“Y…yes dad sorry my professor stopped me for an extra class.” I lied, I lied for the first time in my life why did I even go to meet him.

“Why, were you not focusing in class that you got detention?.” He asked still not looking at me.

“ No d.dad this isn’t it. I had some d..doubts yeah doubts that’s why I asked him for extra time.”

“Why are you stuttering?” he asked eyeing me suspiciously, fuck it’s not my cup of tea.

“Nothing dad I am just thirsty I’ll be back.” I tried to move away.

“Are you stating the truth.” fuck.

“Yes dad why would I lie.” okay now let’s leave,

“Umm, dad can I ask something.” Shit, why do I have to do this?

“Speak!” he said while looking at some reports.

“ Umm I haven’t cleared my all doubts, so can I stay back tomorrow also.” Come on Thanit get ready to attend your funeral.

“Fine until it’s for study.” I tried not to show that I am happy, but it all get away with my smile.

Thank God he didn’t see it. I turned and froze, my cousin was snickering at me.

I straight away went to my room and tried to lock it but manaow entered forcefully.

“So where were you?”

“I told dad na I was with our anatomy professor.”

“Ohhh yeah.” Her look was saying that she knows something.

“I was with Mew playing basketball.” I tried to test my luck.

“Please don’t tell dad.” I plead

“oh come on I won’t, you don’t have to say that but why am I having a feeling that you are forgetting something to tell me.”

“What I no no no I didn’t forget anything, I told you na that I was with Mew.” Please believe it, please.

“Okay, then who is he, your long-lost twin.” She had a pic of four of us in the parlor.

“Okay, I’ll tell you but not a word to anyone.” Then I told her everything.

“ Wow, so you went on a date that too in your second meeting hmmm that’s fast brother.” She looked at my gloomy face,

“Nothing it’s just I shouldn’t have done that.”

“What going with them.” she confirmed.

“Yeah I mean because of that I have to lie to dad for the first time, I mean see how much he trust me he didn’t even check by calling the professor or Dean and here I am lying in his face.”

“Ohhh brother you lied because you knew he would not take it normally, you lied for yourself for your freedom which is common for everyone but you have to take it by lying.”
