The cool air brushed past her long silk hair as it glistened in the moon. "Well, hi Sophie but can you please explain WHAT THE HELL THAT THING WAS!?" Quinn yells. "That was a being we call, Cartoon Cat..." she says looking down. "Cartoon cat?" Ali says. "I'll explain once we get to the shelter. Come on," she says walking towards a strange place. It was a cabin, smaller than the previous one they had seen before. It was still in good condition it seemed but pretty old. They followed her to the front door where she stopped. "Jaime, I'm back and I brought company!" Sophie exclaimed. Footsteps could be heard coming from behind an old bookshelf. Jaime walks out of the basement with black latex gloves and a white mask with a smile. She had long and thick black hair and was wearing a strange outfit that looked to be a butcher outfit. "Greetings," she says with a deep cold tone. "These are- Wait, I never really caught your names," Sophie says with a confused look. "Hi, I'm Ali and this is Itsuki, Quinn, and Sakka." "It's very nice to meet you," Jaime replied. "So, how and why are you guys here?" Itsuki says. "I could ask you the same thing," Jaime added. Itsuki gives her a cold, angered stare. "Well long story," Ali says nervously laughing, "We were here to investigate the history of this town and why it was abandoned but we ended up being chased by a huge Siren creature that took our friend so we came to this direction in hopes of finding her here but we got chased by that weird cat thing." Jaime gives a weird look to Ali, "Cartoon cat?" She asked. "Yea, that thing...I think." Ali says confused. "How did you get out alive?" Jaime replies. "I helped them," Sophie says eagerly, "They were on that old bridge and while they ran off of it I cut the ropes and he fell in the water and the rapids took him away." Sophie giggles. Jaime looks at Sophie disappointed. "You know that won't kill him right?" She says, "He'll just come back sooner or later because once he's found his victims he never gives up until he catches them no matter where they are on earth, and once he does he'll rip you limb from limb eating your insides until you turn into a flat blob of flesh and bone on the bloody red ground filled with endless skulls of other people he's murdered and caught off guard."
The room goes silent as everyone looks at Jaime with a terrified and disgusted look. "Anyways, you guys continue to what you were doing, if you need me, Sophie, I'll be in the basement," Jaime says turning around and walking towards the old bookshelf closing it shut. "Uh, alright," Sophie says nervously. "What was that about-?" Itsuki grunted. "Jaime can be...obscure sometimes but I'm used to it because she was sort of always like that when we were kids," Sophie says sadly. She looks at the old photo of them as children reminiscing such good times from the past. "But anyway, didn't you guys say you had a missing friend?" She asked. "Two actually..." Sakka says quietly. "I see well maybe me and Jaime could help you find them, well, I don't about Jaime but I will!" Sophie says cheerfully with a big smile on her face.
Itsuki starts to feel suspicious of Jaime and what's behind that bookshelf he can't stop staring at it. After the incident back at the other cabin, he's starting to feel more paranoid about his surroundings he doesn't want the same thing to happen again. "We'll start our search in the morning!" Sophie says with a cheer. "No, we have to search now and get the hell out of here I can't stay here much more and who knows what will happen to them before the morning," Itsuki says angrily. "But, you guys just saw what lies out there and you still wanna continue?" Sophie asks with a confused tone in her voice. "Well, you and that Jaime chick seem to know a lot about the area and its creature so you could help," Itsuki says annoyed. "Hm, I suppose. Hold on let me go grab some essentials from the back." Ali looks over to see Itsuki with a mad expression on his face. "You seem bothered. What's up?" Ali asks. "I don't trust what's going on here, I mean the secret basement, the fact Jaime knew what that thing was and how it kills, the weird animal heads everywhere, I don't know maybe I'm just overthinking things but I don't get it," he says. "True but they could be just like us, survivors in a bad place with no one else but each other," Ali added. "I guess, but I'm keeping an eye on them because I still don't trust this," Itsuki grunted.
Sophie comes back with a box full of needed supplies for the walk. She slams it on the old table that sits in the middle of the small cabin. She lets out a small breath. "Ok, here is all the stuff we have in the back. Some of it might not work anymore but it's all we have." Everyone walks up to the old box to see old guns, maps, notes, and much more. "Wow..." Sakka says shocked. They all looked surprised and delighted like a kid in a toy store, well except for Itsuki who was more focused on the notes in the box. Most were old newspapers and diary notes from an unknown person. He noticed one newspaper and the title read:
Seven Devils Industrial District Explosion, 1902.
The rest was covered in dark ink which had a horrible smell to it. "Hey, Sophie. What are these newspapers about?" Itsuki asks with a confused look. Sophie looked frightened and concerned when she saw which newspaper Itsuki held. She rushed over and snatched it out of his hand. "Oh, those old things. Don't worry they have no importance." While holding it behind her back, she then places it back into the box. Itsuki was not happy about that and gave her a cold stare. "Fine," he says walking past her. She lets out a sigh and turns around to the others who found weapons that they wanna use. "Oh, it seems you all have found your weapons," Sophie says. "Yep, they seem perfect and in good shape," Ali says happily. "Good!" Sophie says with a grin.
Itsuki watches from the back leaning on a wall with an angered face. Sakka walks over to him. "Have you seen these guns?! They really are an upgrade to what we had before. Sophie seems nice for giving these to us." Itsuki lets out a groan and looks the other way with his arms folded. "Look, I know you don't trust her but come on we have to find Hunter and Dahlia," Sakka says, "we can't do that if you wanna act this way too Sophie. Just put your suspicions aside for a moment and be grateful that she's helping us, something I couldn't do for Dahlia...but come on look on the bright side you still got us," he says. Itsuki's face saddens and he relaxes his arms. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I just don't want us to be hurt because of a new problem," he says. "Don't worry if she wanted to hurt us she wouldn't have given us guns and saved us from that cat thing," he says holding his shoulder. "True," Itsuki says. "Hey, Sakka and Itsuki are you guys ready to go?" Ali says. "Oh, yeah we're ready," Sakka says. "Remember what I said just don't worry too much, alright?", Sakka asks. "Alright," Itsuki responds. They both walk toward the door where everyone awaits. Just as they were about to walk out Sophie remembered something. "Oh, I forgot about Jaime." She goes towards the bookshelf and yells her name. Jaime slightly opens the shelf with only the darkness being seen as she opens it. "Yes, Sophie?" she says with a low voice. "Me and the others are gonna go out where their friends are. Do you wanna come?" Jaime lets out a sigh. "Well I surely can't hold this place down myself so I guess I'll go."She says lowly. "Alright, nice!" Sophie says. Jaime comes out of the basement with a different mask from before. It was much whiter and had a mime-like appearance to it. Itsuki stares at it constantly like he's seen it before. "Hey, where'd you get that mask from?" He asked. "That's none of your concern." She says walking past him. "Now, shall we continue?" she asks Sophie. "Yeah, let's go," Sophie says. Itsuki trailed behind with an angered face. He was so tempted to shoot her in the back of her head but he remembered what Sakka said so he tried to stay calm but he wasn't determined to make peace...he wanted answers first.
