Tommy's padded little feet lightly tapped against the dirt that he was playing above as he held his mommas hands laughing. They spun around and around as they both danced around the fire, his mother's big wings over powering his not yet fully grown ones. She chuckled as she lifted the small toddler up and continued spinning. Oh if only things could have stayed that way. Just the child and his mother having fun in the forest by there village, but no, fate had other things planned for the family, and they were not pleasant.
Suddenly, there was an explosion in the direction of the small village. The mother froze as she shot her head in the direction of footsteps as well as fire drawing near. She quickly started running, keeping the petite bean tucked under her big wings, shielding him from the fir that was surrounding the two. She felt something hit her stomach causing her to collapse as she screamed in pain. Her child cried as he saw an arrow peirce the bigger female version of the loud toddler.
"I'm sorry my little swan, our paths together end here, I need you to promise me you'll run and keep running until your absolutely safe. Now go!!!"
That was 4 years ago. Tommy was now 7. After his mother died, he was left alone to fend for himself, when he was three, and just starting out by himself, he had trouble getting food. Sometimes a family of raccoons he had met would bring him food that they find while scavenging to the child. But that's about it. Luckily he did find a cave where he lived. He smelled horrible, no longer smelling like a baby. The only thing close to a shower he's had is an ice cold bath in the lake near his cave. Sometimes he would pick pocket random citizens in the village. That's what he was doing right now. He was pretty cocky about being a big man, the way he hasn't been caught yet boosted the 7 year Olds already inflated ego.
Today, he decided to try the capital, as there was a lot more loot to steal there. He currently was packing up for the journey there. The landscape still very snowy, but he could manage. He had his wings to protect him, soon after his
mother died, he started to grow and with growing came the time where his wings, a beautiful shade of red and gold came in like a Phoenix. He had no one to teach him how to take care of his wings, so they were impossible to fly with after years of no treatment, plus the many times he's hit his back against the concrete when being thrown out of orphanages for being too problematic. Everyone usually forgets about the poor little avian. So he was gonna make them remember him.He swung his small bag of belongings and money pouch he stole earlier that day, and made his way out the cave entrance. He made his way onto the path that led to the capital. He had no idea what was coming to him.
