*****
Her engagement had been set much sooner than Soumya would have liked. The day after her brother had dropped the news she found out she was set to be engaged in less than a week, which to her was absolutely absurd. She didn't understand why they were rushing things so much. All the invitations were sent out almost immediately and all the preparations were made at lightning speed.
Now, exactly five days later, Soumya stood in front of her mirror and stared at her reflection. To any one else she looked like a beautiful bride ready for her engagement. But no one else understood the dilemma of attacking Soumya's insides. She'd be tied down to a man she didn't know at all in a matter of less than 2 hours. Was she ready to commit to someone for the rest of her life? Especially a man she'd never met before.
No. No she wasn't. In fact if she'd be given the chance she'd break off this engagement without even needing to hesitate. Her brother was right about most things, but he was certainly not right about this. Soumya wasn't ready, she'd never be ready for what she was about to do. So she stared at herself in the mirror, counting the minutes till she'd be called down to meet her fate.
She was dressed in a beautiful blush pink two piece lehenga. The skirt ombred from a light pink to a darker magenta with flowers coating the bottom in asymmetrical patterns. The blouse was light pink and backless and she carried a simple net dupatta with the silver embroidery and the same flower design on her lehenga. The best part was that the whole outfit was designed by herself.
( Her outfit )
On her face she wore simple makeup with pink eyeshadow and dangling diamond earrings that hung from her ears extenuating her curled hair. She'd originally decided to keep her neck bare, but decided to wear her mothers necklace last minute. It was her attempt at making sure her parents were present with her and luckily matched her earrings quite well. Despite her beautiful attire, her inside mood was quite glum. Though she looked gorgeous, this was not the way she'd imagined getting engaged at all.
She sat down on her bed, tired of looking at herself and waited to be called down. Not long after the door to her bedroom opened and Anu bhabhi came in. She was wearing a beautiful green lehenga and teal dupatta. On her neck was a diamond choker along with earrings and a matching maang tika. She had her hair in a beautiful bun with some of the strands framing her face. She stared at Soumya in awe before coming over and giving her a kiss on the forehead.
