Ash's POV:

On the first day of the school, after I denied a battle from Camel, I became the loser and loner of the school. Pair that with me talking to Serena, and no one wanted to be my friend, except Paul. But I told him to stay away from me, lest he suffer the same fate too. He didn't like it, but eventually agreed.

I don't really know what happened to Serena. She became the opposite of what she was during Professor Oak's Summer Camp a few years ago. She stomped on my heart, and I don't think that I could ever forgive her for that. I thought of committing suicide, but dismissed the idea. My pokemon and Leaf still needed me. Besides, I had the support of awesome people like the Champions, their Elite Four, the Professors, Gary and Daisy.

Speaking of them.

"Hey, Ash?" Daisy asked, looking nervous. We were walking through the forest to my mansion. "Mhmmm." I responded to let her know that I was paying attention. "Are there any changes in Leaf?" I shook my head negative. Gary sighed and Daisy sobbed silently. I kept thinking about how I could fix her. When we reached the mansion, my Lucario was waiting for us.

'Master.' He said through Aura. I groaned. "How many times do I have to tell you I'm not your master." Lucario smirked. 'Master, there is something wrong with your friend's aura.' I was immediately on alert. Everything had aura, and humans had the least of it. For something to be wrong with a human's aura could be disastrous. Aura Guardians like me were some exceptions. We had more aura than normal humans. The Protector families also had large auras.

I rushed upstairs, Lucario telling me what was wrong. Leaf's aura system was unstable. That was probably why she had occasional bouts of remembrance, then went to blank again. Why hadn't I though of that? I could hear Gary and Daisy rushing behind me. I burst into Leaf's room and rushed to her. She was sleeping. I held both of her hands in mine and pushed my aura into her, Lucario's aura pulsing into me.

The transfer of aura was an extremely delicate process. Only a human could transfer aura to another human. Pokemon with aura, like Riolu and Lucario could help by transferring their aura to the person transferring their aura into the other person. A pokemon could be healed by both - humans and pokemon. No one knew why it was like that. I would have to ask Arceus the next time I saw her.

Leaf's breath hitched. That was good. It meant that the person was responsive. I continued pushing my aura through Leaf for another half an hour, after which Lucario informed me that her aura system was stable. I almost broke down crying. Leaf would be finally waking up. Crashing on my butt to the floor, panting heavily, I regained my breath. Gary and Daisy were watching the whole thing. I informed them that Leaf would be waking up tomorrow and to not disturb her till them. Needless to say, they were ecstatic.

I told Pikachu to go to the yard and inform everyone to start training. if we were going to Alola, there was no doubt that I would meet Gladion. And he would want a battle. I know that I swore to stop battling after my mom's death, but she would have wanted me to continue battling and protect innocents from harm.

I had recently gotten some fresh trails of Team Zeo. That wasn't good news. I had originally thought that the organization had been disbanded after the deaths of The Protectors of the previous generation. Everyone had to be ready. That's why I decided to visit Serena's mom and Misty's sisters and deliver the news personally. This kind of confidential news wasn't to be trusted to be handed over a video call.

The Academy had a short break for a week to get everything ready for the trip. This was perfect. I would visit Grace today and go to Cerulean Gym tomorrow. I had talked to Mr. Goodshow as well and he had informed the other Champions, who had informed their respective Elite Fours.
