We started to walk to school, just like every other day. Justin was whining about how Mondays were bad, which was also something that happened every Monday. On Monday mornings, I could sympathize with people who extensively complain about Mondays. Frankly, they're terrible. And, the recurring reminder of knowing I had to do this for four more days made it all the more terrible. On other days though, I wondered why they didn't complain about that day more.

"Oh yeah," Justin started, with a little bit of excitement in his eyes, "You know the urban legend of the bloodsuckers in town, right?"

"The dumb vampire bedtime story parents tell to get their kids to sleep from fear?" I frowned.

"Still scared of them?" Justin laughed.

"Fuck off... Thanks to all those nights, I now carry trama," I scowled.

"Well, I heard a dude was killed around a week ago-" he started, smiling mischievously "-but when people found the lad, there was no blood left in the body but around a bite mark on his neck. They all can't explain how it happened. They think the bloodsuckers did it."

"You believe that crap?" I asked, getting a little anxious. He laughed.

"Be careful on your way back home."

"Shut up," I scoffed.

The number of teenagers was increasing as we got closer to school. The number of eyes looking our way increased too - it was something I got used to throughout the years, being close to Justin. It was a normal daily occurrence, although it still got me a little uncomfortable.

"Did I become THAT much sexier in a week?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Wha- huh?" I asked, confused.

"You're slowly walking further away from me. With beta posture even," Justin said. "The only explanation is either I became super sexy over the past week, or the one week of not seeing me caused your sexy tolerance to wear off."

"What in the fuck is that?" I scoffed, but my mouth twitched, begging to turn into a grin and start laughing. I realized I subconsciously hunched up and tried to distance myself from him with all the eyes directed at me, making me overwhelmed.

"Hey, don't mind them," he said with a sad smile, a hand on my shoulder.

"Thanks," I said with a smile, but not feeling any better. The animosity of the gaze on me from all directions only increased, and I felt even more nervous. To my relief, we parted ways for Justin to get to his basketball practice, and I turned around to get to my class when my face was met with a wall.

I stumbled back a few steps, but a hand grabbed my arm pulling me in and the other circling my waist, stopping me from falling over. I only then realized I didn't bump into a wall, but a boy.

I was too startled to move, and my heart was pounding loudly in my chest. His fluffy brown hair that came down to his shoulder tickled my face. I then noticed his smell. He smelled like nothing I've ever smelled before, but it was so pleasant. For a second, I didn't want to move away.

"Are you okay?" he asked into my ear. My heart skipped a beat. His low voice sounded like smooth, melted chocolate. I could hear my heart beat even louder.

"Y-yeah, sorry. Thanks," I managed to blurt out and stepped back, and he let go. Only then, I was able to get a good look at him. His skin was ghastly pale, and he had deep, dark bags under his eyes making him look like he hasn't slept in days. He was absolutely expressionless - it was impossible to read him.

But the most noticeable feature was how insanely beautiful he was. He stood taller than me, a perfect silhouette, his toned body standing gracefully on the ground. The veins of the muscles of his arms could be seen with his sweater rolled up to the elbows, which looked like a genius artist had carved it out of marble. His fluffy, silky hair fell messily but lightly on his perfectly proportioned face, covering parts of it, and came down to lay gracefully on his shoulders. He had a perfect nose and high cheekbones. His eyes were an elegant dark wine red, his long eyelashes gently casting a shadow over them. They were mesmerizing, I couldn't look away...

He was inhumanely pretty.

He was also someone I had never seen before, which was strange. Because our school was relatively small, all faces were somewhat familiar, and I would have surely recognized someone who looked this... stunning.

He returned my gaze, meeting my eyes. For a split second, I thought his eyes became intense like he was reading a book. No one had ever looked at me like that before, and the heat rushed to my cheeks, making me blush. But a breeze blew his hair out of place, covering his eyes, and when his hair fell back into place, his focus seemed to have moved on elsewhere.

Instead of saying anything, he leaned in and tucked a loose lock of hair behind my ear. With a barely noticeable smile playing at the corner of his lips, he walked away.

I was left standing there, dazed.
