"So where's the party at?" I asked Kaitlyn who was too busy trying to find a good song on the radio.
"Some Senior's house." She blankly answered. The popular Seniors weren't exactly the idea of nice. They made everyone who wasn't popular feel bad about themselves by insulting them and embarrasing them in front of the school. They were real dickheads if you ask me. We arrived at a house full of drunk high-school students who kept yelling nonsense at others. I instantly regret agreeing to come to this so-called party.

I follow Kaitlyn since she seems to know more people here. She starts talking to a guy who's clearly older, I would say about 3 or 4 years older than us. Isn't this a high-school party? I look around, studying my surroundings carefully. There is a table full of food and alcohol. The couch is full of students with red solo cups in their hands, laughing at God knows what.
"Let's go get a drink." Kaitlyn grabbed my arm and pulled me towards the kitchen. I grab a water bottle, obviously avoiding the alcohol. Kaitlyn however, grabs a red solo cup and pours some brown liquid in it. Of course she had to get that, she likes fitting in with the rest of the people here. She starts talking to a group of girls, leaving me by myself. I sigh and sit down in one of the chairs close to the kitchen.
"Hey, Sydney right?" I hear that familiar voice, as a figure gets out of the crowd. Niall smiles at me, making his way in front of me.
"Hey," I shyly say, "What're you doing here?"
"Well, everyone was coming, so I figured I'd come too. Maybe I'll make more friends here. What about you?" He asks.
"I came with my friend, who practically begged me to come with her," I smile, "I'm not really the party type."
"Ah. I've been to several parties from my other school, but they were worst than here," he laughs, "The other time, a guy peed on the kitchen table because he was too drunk to know the difference between the toilet and the table." He continued to laugh.
"Gross!" I say, both of us laughing now.

I spent the whole time talking to Niall, who told me various funny stories about his old school and how he got detention for a whole week. He's a really funny guy, which made me like him more. I'm still surprised I kept the conversation going. I'm usually kind of awkward at socialising, but it was easy to talk to Niall.
"I should get going, it's late already." I say, standing up from my chair.
"Wait... What's your number? I was thinking we could talk more later on." He smiled. Did he really just ask me for my number? My heart was practically pounding out of my chest in excitement. I kept my cool and gave him my number, then said my goodbye. I looked for Kaitlyn but I didn't find her. I guess I'll have my mom pick me up.

I got home, still in shock of what'd happened. I tried holding in my excitement until I got to my room, or else my mom would ask many questions I don't want to answer. I guess it was a good thing going to that party after all.
