Chapter 8

I sat down in my seat of my last class feeling relieved as school was almost over. I had a very stressful day and I just couldn't wait for it to come to an end. I watched as Niall made his way to his seat, giving me a small smile. I faintly smiled back before turning to the board to copy down the notes. Not once did I turn to look at him during class. Sure, Kaitlyn was the one flirting with him but I was still quite bothered with him too.

Class had come to an end and I quickly gathered my things as all I wanted to do was go home.
"Sydney, wait!" Niall called after me and I turned around, watching him make his way towards me. He caught up to me and stopped in his tracks.
"Are you okay?" I was rather confused by his question. Did I really look like I was in a bad mood? I tried my best to hide it, but it clearly wasn't working.
"Yeah," I replied with a fake smile, "Thanks for asking." I continued to walk, Niall walking with me too. I felt Niall touch my arm, making me stop in my tracks.
"Are you sure you're okay?" His hand still touching my arm. His touch made my skin feel as if it were on fire and my stomach was bursting with butterflies.
"I-uh. Yes...I'm s-sure." My brain couldn't form a proper sentence. I looked at his hand on my arm then back to his face.
"Okay. Just making sure." He smiled and removed his hand from my arm. Even though he had removed his hand, it still felt like my skin was on fire. I couldn't help myself but smile brightly back at him. We were having a moment until Kaitlyn had to come and ruin it. As predicted, she was back at flirting with him. She even grabbed his arm and started walking away with him. Niall looked back and mouthed the word "Sorry" to me. I turned around obviously avoiding them. It really bothered me how Kaitlyn had to come and ruin our moment. Even though it breaks my heart to say it, she'll be dating him in a week or so. That's how it always is. Kaitlyn could get any guy she wants in about a week or so. And that's how it always will be. Although I wish she wasn't like that.
