Chapter 4

I'd barely gotten home when my mom started yelling at me.
"Why didn't you take out the dog before you went to school?! You never listen to me!" My mom seemed angry. I forgot to take him out, what's the big deal?
"Sorry." Is all I said. Arguing with her was just a waste of time. She shook her head in disappointment and turned around, disappearing into the kitchen. I followed her, finding my sister sitting in the kitchen table texting away at her phone. Despite just being yelled at, I was still happy about the interaction with Niall earlier. Sure, it was a small one but it still counts. I'm still surprised I didn't stutter.
"Mom just finished yelling at you, and you're smiling? You're so confusing." I turned to look at my sister, rolling my eyes at her.
"You're 13, you wouldn't understand." I grabbed a water bottle and headed upstairs to my room. I checked my phone to see if any notifications. Kaitlyn had texted me.
* hey are you busy? * - Kaitlyn
* not really. Why?* I waited for her to text me back, which wasn't soon. After 15 minutes, she finally replied.
* wanna go to a party? Eveyone at school is going.* - Kaitlyn
I'm not the party type, I'd rather stay at home and watch movies or something.
* you know I don't like going to parties.*
*oh c'mon Syd, don't be a grumpy old lady. We're 16, we're supposed to be partying all the time. Besides, it'll be fun I promise. Please!* -Kaitlyn
I really didn't want to go, but I guess I'll do her that favor.
* fine. I'll go.*
*Ok I'll pick you up in an hour!* -Kaitlyn
I put down my phone and went to my closet where I picked a decent outfit. I curled my hair in the morning so I left it alone. I retouched my makeup and I was ready. I went downstairs to wait for Kaitlyn to pick me up. I didn't like the idea of going to a party but it is a Friday night and I'm allowed to have some fun, I guess. A party is still not as fun as watching an old film though.

I said a quick goodbye to my mother and left, hoping everything will be alright.
