Later that night, after Camila got home, she messaged Dinah.

Me: Are we still on for girl's night tomorrow?

Dinah replied almost automatically.

DJ: Yep!

Me: When should I come over?

DJ: How about like 6?

Me: Sounds good! If she can, would it be okay if Lauren kind of crashed our girl's night?

Camila waited patiently for her friend's answer. Her anxiety gnawed at the girl with each second that passed.

DJ: I'm okay with it. I'll ask my mom, but she probably won't mind. Are u spending the night?

Me: Only if I can.

DJ: Of course u can! Gosh Mila, why would I say no? Btw, would Lauren be staying over as well?

Me: Maybe. I'll talk to her about it tomorrow. Anyway, it's been a long day, so I'm going to go to bed. Goodnight DMac. 😉

DJ: goodnight! See you tomorrow. 😜

Camila smiled to herself as she started her nighttime ritual, and she was still wearing it as she laid in bed and closed her eyes.

Lauren closed the door quietly with tremendous effort, not wanting to draw any attention. But as she began to tiptoe up the stairs toward her bedroom, her mother's voice sounded from out of nowhere.

"Where are you going?" The older woman stood at the bottom of the stairs.

"To my room. I was going to go to bed." Lauren answered.

"Not right now you're not. Come with me." Her mother, Clara, gestured for Lauren to follow her as she walked away. She stood still on the stairs, wondering what her mom wanted to discuss, before descending them. Lauren followed Mrs. Jauregui into their living room, where the older woman sat on the couch. "Sit." She patted the cushion beside her.

Lauren did so, and stayed silent.

"How was dinner?" Clara asked calmly.

"Good. Nice family." Lauren was subconsciously pulling on the frayed ends of the couch.

"You like her?"

"Who?" Lauren immediately felt defensive.

"That girl. I can see it in your face. When you talk about her, you just light up. And you haven't once told me her name."

"Camila. That's her name, okay?" Lauren replied, and stood up from her seat.

"Please sit down, Lauren."

"No, I don't want to sit down. Where's Dad?" She placed her hands on her hips.

"He already went to bed. I decided to wait up for you."

"Why? What is this about?" The younger girl demanded.

"I think you should slow things down with...Camila. Not see her for a couple days..."

"What?" Lauren's eyes widened. "Why would I do that? Mom, what happened?" She asked worriedly.

Her mother sighed once again.

"Just please, sit."

Lauren obeyed.

"Some of the paparazzi spotted you. Pictures are already on the internet."
