"Mija! Lauren's here!" Sinu called from downstairs.
"I'll be down in a second!" Camila yelled back as she pulled on her black Converse. The brown-eyed girl threw on a light jacket and grabbed her guitar in its case before exiting her bedroom and flying down the staircase to meet her girlfriend.
Her heart never ceased to skip a beat or two when she saw Lauren. Once she saw Camila, her green eyes locked onto her. The younger brunette grinned wildly as she stepped down the last stair and slowly went over to give Lauren a hug. Camila hummed delightfully as she was enveloped in the green-eyed girl's warmth, and deeply breathed in the ambrosial smell of Lauren's vanilla shampoo.
When Lauren tried to pull away, Camila securely fastened both arms around her body.
"Camz?" Lauren spoke timidly as she looked down at her girlfriend. Camila's face was buried in her shoulder. The smaller girl said something, but her words were completely muffled.
"What did you say babe?"
Camila lifted her head and smiled. "I said 'yes?'"
"Oh, okay," Lauren replied, returning her smile. "Are you ready to go? We wouldn't want to be late."
Camila released her grip on the green-eyed girl's waist and stepped back. "That's the last thing I'd ever want to happen. We better go then."
After saying goodbye to Camila's mom, the two girls headed out. Lauren laced their fingers together, and Camila immediately went to swinging their joined hands as they began to walk down the sidewalk.
The silence between them was entirely pleasant. Camila and Lauren had spent so much time together, that they didn't always need words to fill the space to feel comfortable.
Lauren stared at the ground as she moved her feet, and smiled at Camila's footwear.
"I've noticed that you're always wearing your black Converse. Why?" She asked.
"They're my lucky Converse," Camila replied simply.
"But why is that pair specifically lucky? You own like five or six other pairs."
"Because," Camila spoke with a small smile.
"Because what?" Lauren inquired. She was genuinely curious for the answer.
"I was wearing them the day I met you."
A crooked smile appeared on Lauren's face. She pulled on Camila's hand to bring her closer and kissed the girl chastely on the lips.
"Now I feel kinda special Camz."
"Good. That's because you are Lauren."
Lauren felt herself blushing a little at the compliment.
"What do you think will happen if Simon actually likes our song?" Camila asked.
"I guess he'll take you wanting to be signed seriously. You'll have to come into the studio and I don't know, we'll find out when we get there."
"Okay."
The couple continued to walk hand in hand, and reached Simon's studio in no time. And when they entered the building, there were people rushing back and forth.
