Love's POV

*Read important author's note at the end :)*

•••

Nervousness was something I didn't feel often. Hell, I'm a model who practically lives on the runway.

But somehow, being in front of Lorenzo's uncle made me squirm. What if he doesn't like me?

I've met Lorenzo's father only a handful of times, and he wasn't a nice guy. He didn't speak much, only gave stares that could literally kill you.

Now that it's being mentioned, Lorenzo doesn't have many of his father's features, other than his temper. There were no photos of his mother around his house, only one that Lorenzo hid from his father.

Leonardo looks so familiar.

"Why so quiet, la farfalla?" Leonardo asked me, snapping me out of my trance. [butterfly]

"I'm sorry," I gave a nervous chuckle, "I'm just thinking."

"Well," he picked up the glass of scotch and sipped it, then brought the glass back to the table quietly, letting the tattooed 'four' on his arm show, "Lo tells me you're a model." I nodded. "What's that like?"

The tattoo. I've seen it before.

In Paris.

I was leaving a show, and I thought there was a black truck following me, but it drove off as I approached it. The arm hanging out of the backseat was identical to Leonardo's.

I took a moment to think, but the truth is, I've answered this question more times than I could count. "Exhilarating is one way to put it. Every show it's like I'm new person. Kind of like my own version of Halloween."

Leonardo looked intrigued by what I was saying. Dressed in a three piece black suit, he resembled someone out of Godfather. His hair slicked back with entirely too much gel and a cigar between his fingers that I'm sure he wasn't allowed to light.

"Have you dreamed of doing anything else?" He asked me.

"Yes, actually. I wanted to put my brain to use by becoming an engineer as a child, but once I discovered modeling, there were no other options."

"Engineering, huh?" He didn't try hiding his surprised tone. "So you're not just a pretty face, la farfalla." [butterfly]

I was taken aback by what he said, and Lorenzo was too, considering he cleared his throat and shifted in the booth we sat in next to each other.

"Zio. We're here to discuss business, not get acquainted with Love."

"Are you sure you would like to discuss this here?" His eyes moved to me, but his head stayed focused on Lorenzo, indicating I'm some kind of liability.

Lorenzo's jaw tightened, and I placed my hand on his thigh, trying to make sure he doesn't lose his composure. He reassured me by placing his hand on top of mine, and giving it a light squeeze. "Yes. I'm sure."

"You know what? I need to call Blair to check on Lina. I'll be right back." I send a tight lipped smile to the both of them.

"You don't have to leave, Love. I'm fine discussing this with you present."

"It's fine, I'll just be a minute." I slide out of the booth, and make my way to the front of the restaurant, then outside.

I pulled out my cell, then dialed Blair's number without a second thought.

"Hey, Lovey."

"B. How's Lina?" I asked her, trying to ignore the man beside me lighting a cigarette and looking at me with 'fuck me' eyes.
