Zander sighed and put down his phone, he didn't want to do anything for his birthday, and this was exactly why. Luke wouldn't be there, even though he never was this year felt different.

He looked at himself in the gray mirror, everything around him having similar shades of black, white and grey. How could he ever find his soulmate if he never went outside.

Alexander Wickham, 24 living in an apartment with his stepsister. Jobless, temporary colour blind, and lacking a soulmate.

His best friend, Luke Peterson, also 24 but a few months older. They met online a few years ago, when they where both 16. Zander really wanted to meet him, but Luke had a life, a job to keep up a house to look after.

There was a knock on his bedroom door. "Come in Hailey!" Zander called out, his sister, Hailey, opened the door and smiled. "You ready to go? Milly is here now."

Hailey wanted Zander to do something for his birthday so she had invited Sean and Milly along to do something. And that something was just lunch thankfully.

"Also we have a surprise. I promise you'll like it." Hailey smiled. "I told you Hailey. I don't want anything-" Before Zander could finish he was interrupted. "I get it, you want that guy you're always talk to."

He felt his face heat up, and assumed it was probably some shade of pink. "Come on." She took hold of his wrist and dragged Zander out.

Milly and Sean where sitting in the front of Seans car. The two where soulmates, but they had no romantic interest in each other, a good example of platonic soulmates. When Sean saw Zander he raised his eyebrow, looking at his jacket. "Green? An interesting choice."

Zander glared at Hailey. "You didn't tell me it was green." He shot at her. "Well, we didn't have time, whatever it looks fine."

Hailey was an interesting case, she had found her soulmate back in high school but had no idea who it was, having brushed past them in a busy corridor. Zander was amazed that she didn't really care, saying she would rather have her own love. It would have bugged him for the rest of his life.

"Get in guys." Milly said with a smile. "Relax Zander, no one cares you're wearing green." She added, seeing his face. "Well I care." He sulked before getting in the car, going in after Hailey. "God Zander, you haven't changed since we where kids." Milly leaned back as they drove off. "Whatever you'll be thanking us later."
