Steve was a sick little boy
Way down deep in
Medical care
Hospital stays

New treatments every week.

He was happy, however,
His mother fed him
He ate as much as he could.
Slept a lot.
Had fun with the other boys and girls.

There was a
Time when Steve Rogers, age eight and a half
Went over to Bucky's house and
Knocked knocked knocked up on that
Dark wooden door.

"Oh, Steve!" Mrs. Barnes says, kneeling down.
"Bucky will be right down, he's changing."

It's summer and Steve wants to go
Swimming.
No harm in getting wet.

So Steve wears his swim suit
And Bucky comes down in his
And
They run to Bucky's
Automobile and
Mrs. Barnes drives them
To the pool that

Other little boys are playing at.

"I'm excited, what about you, Steve?"

Steve gives a grin.

They get out, Bucky's mother ruffles their hair as she sits down at a seat and
Says

"Don't you boys go causing any trouble."

No worries for her.

Steve jumps in the shallow end but,
He is so small, he doesn't have a risk.

Bucky walks into the steps and shudders.

"It's so cold, Steve! Don't you go to deep!"

Steve laughs as he pops back up and
Paddles over to Bucky.

"Come on, Bucky, don't be afraid!"

They chase after each other
Laugh and play.
When Bucky's mother comes back
And says 'it's time to go boys'
With a little smile

They groan and pout and
End up falling asleep on the ride back.

Steve holds Bucky's hand
And Mrs. Rogers drops off some clothes so
Steve can spend the night.

Morning comes,
A barn follows.
A good breakfast from Mrs. Barnes and
Steve eats as much as he can and
Kicks his little legs with glee as
Bucky steals some of his egg.

"You boys don't go causing any trouble," she
Says with a smile.

Bucky looks at Steve
Steve looks at Bucky.

A small little smirk.
