Marin

5 days.

5 freakin days since I ran away from home.

I've been running around, going from hotel to hotel, restaurant to restaurant, living off of free water and bathroom mints. Sometimes I'll find extra money in the hotel rooms I break into, so it's enough for a sandwich at the local gas station.

Even though, I'm starving 100% of the time, and tired because it's hard to find places to sleep, I've never been happier.

Why, you might ask? Because I'm away from my dad.

I shuddered at the thought of him. After what he did to me, or should I say does to me, I'm glad I ran away.

God, I should've done this ages ago, but whatever, I'm out of that house now, and that's all that matters.

There's only one problem, monsters. Everywhere I go, one seems to track me down. I've had 4 in the past 5 days. Luckily, I've figured out that the more people I'm around, the less they seem to find me. Weird, right?

Anyway, I need to scout another hotel, and there's one down the block, so I may as well go there. But first, the bathroom.

I cleaned myself up, to make it look like I'm not living on the streets. I combed my long, light hair with my fingers, and splashed some water on my red face. I straightened out my dirty "Disney-Land" t shirt, and rolled up my jeans to my knees.

Ugh, I haven't shaved in awhile, let's move the jeans back down.

I lifted my t shirt up my torso, to make sure my sword was still tucked at my side. I made sure my gray shirt was covering my sword completely, otherwise people would notice it's glowing aura.

After I decided I was somewhat-presentable, I made my way to the hotel.

I walked in and there was barley anyone there, except for a girl who looked about my age, with dark hair in two French braids. She was wearing jeans and a black t shirt. There was a middle age looking man next to her and I figured it must be her father.

The girl turned around and noticed me, but she looked scared herself.

Atleast you don't have to worry about monsters, I thought bitterly to myself.

But something about her complexion was... Oddly familiar. She had a flawless figure, which went along well with her stunning facial features. She was really beautiful, but she didn't seem to notice. She had sharp eyebrows and a slim curvy nose, and small plumped lips. Why was this so familiar?

We were the only ones in the hotel lobby, and I probably would've bolted because it would be easier for monsters to track me down since I wasn't covered up with the scent of mortals.

But I stayed, and I soon realized why she looked so familiar, I saw her everytime I looked in a mirror.

The hotel desk worker pierced his eyes at me and started growing in size, millimeter by millimeter, I didn't know how to react because I was distracted by the girl, so (like an idiot) I yelled "LOOK OUT!" Which is probably the dumbest thing you can say in front of a monster. He grew in size and the girl shrieked, but why was he going after her? She's mortal.

And I know what your thinking, I'm not mortal. I've always known from the monster attacks that I wasn't normal. I guess that's why I was home schooled and never met a single friend in my 14 years of age.

But if I'm not mortal, what am I? Honestly, when you figure it out, give me a call. I would love to know.

All I know, is that I'm not mortal, therefor monsters like to attack me, if I'm surrounded by mortals, it covers up my "un mortal" scent, keeping them away from me. And how do I know all this? Eavesdropping on my dad. But now, this freaking one.

I took out my sword and stabbed the manticore in the chest, thanks to the middle age man for the head-butting help.

The poor girl was so confused. She probably wanted to know what half bloods are and why he (assuming it's a he) called us that. Most monsters call me that so I was used to it, but I still don't know what it means.

As I helped her up a chill went through my spine, and I realized something, this girl wasn't mortal either, she was like me! That's why the manticore wanted to attack her. I finally found someone like me!! I wanted to jump for joy but I held myself back. Introduce yourself first I told myself. And so I did, the girls name was Aqua. I explained to her that we had to get out, and fast.

Her dad seemed to know what was going on though, which I was grateful for, but he mentioned something about a code, that it wasn't working or something.

Maybe the reason Aqua was so freaked out was because this was her first monster attack, maybe her dad had some time of protection over her... A code?
