"That's not how the world works,
don't you understand!"
that said the mind to the heart
as it firmly took its stand.

"Don't you think that you care too much? And can't you just calm down?"
said the heart in an ugly tone,
with an extremely ugly frown.

"Remind yourself who am I, and brave of you to talk back.
Do you really understand what these words mean?
The knowledge for it you lack."

With rage, the heart started to scream
"Will you ever listen to me through!
You ignore my calls and think I am weak,
even if I am true!"

"Do you know what can happen?"
Commanded the brain
Heart furiously replied
"Oh I know you will go insane"

"I don't want you to open up,
or you will get hurt again."
softly the brain continued
"I don't want you to feel pain."

The heart replied
"You don't want me to open up,
But I know the reason behind it well."
I know the world reads these words
But the feelings inside me swell"

"Heart, let me take the lead
I know what's good for us.
Let me write what I think, is good
Please lend me your trust."

In the end, the heart agreed,
but it had a cost for it.
he gave something to the mind,
and asked for some words that fit.

"I hope you can take my darkness
and fit it on this page
because it is heavy to carry around
and I feel like I'm in a cage"

The argument settled between the two
on a simple note, they agreed.
My mind will take the darkness from my heart
and in form of words, it will be freed.
