"Oh, come on, don't be so miserable, it won't kill you to come outside for an hour and help the kids build a snowman," Emily laughs before she stands on her tiptoes and brushes her lips softly against Aaron's while he pulls on his gloves, relieved to see a smile on his face when she pulls away again and rests her hands on his waist through his coat. "Besides, this is the first year Jack and Soph will be able to play out in it together because we were still living in the apartment this time last year and she couldn't even walk back then. She isn't going to remember it, I know, but I want to make her first snow day great and I think she'll love it if you help her build a snowman."

"I hate you sometimes," He tells her with a shake of his head. "You only said that so I can't refuse without sounding heartless."

"Just imagine how heartbroken she'll be if, when she's older, I have to break her news to her that her daddy - the man she loves most in the whole world - chose to stay inside and catch up on a little paperwork over spending time with her on her first snow day," She pouts. "Just imagine it."

"You've made your point." He chuckles, running his hands down her arms through her sleeves.

She tilts her head back to brush another kiss against his lips once they've stood there in the hall in silence for a time, but she pulls back when she remembers that Jack and Sophia are outside unsupervised and takes his hand in her own. "I think we had better head outside just in case the neighbour's kitten jumps the fence again. He's a love and Soph adores him, but she'll squeeze him half to death if she gets the chance and that's a conversation I don't want to have with them later on."

"Yeah, it probably wouldn't help us make the best first impression," He smirks before she walks him down the hall and into the kitchen, his thumb grazing her knuckles through her glove as she opens the back door and they step out into the backyard. Despite his deep hatred for the snow and just cold weather in general, he has to smile when he looks at his kids. Sophia is on her back on the ground in the Minnie Mouse snowsuit Garcia bought for her, her dark curls splayed out around her head as she looks up at her brother while he kneels beside her and moves her arms and legs to help her make a snow angel. The two of them have a beautiful bond and he loves it.

He still remembers his little face breaking out into the widest smile when he had held her for the first time while cuddled up to Emily at the hospital. For months leading up to the birth, he had been so desperate to meet her and asked him and Emily at bedtime every night if she would be born when he woke up in the morning. When he had picked him up from school and told him Emily had finally given birth, he had been able to sense that he hadn't completely believed him. It hadn't been until he'd pulled into the hospital parking lot that he had finally gotten excited.

"Da-da-da-da..." Sophia's soft babbling pulls him from his thoughts after a while and he laughs when he looks over at her to see her toddling towards him, the love he had for her deepening when she squeals excitedly as he slips his hand out of her mother's and crouches down a little.

"Come on, princess, come to daddy," He encourages, holding his hands out to her so that he can catch her if she stumbles and falls forwards. It takes her a minute and she wobbles slightly, but she eventually reaches him and he wraps his arms tight around her when she cuddles up to him. He presses his lips to her forehead through her fringe as he stands up with her, his hand rubbing her back to warm her up as he balances her on his hip and she wraps her arms around his neck. "You're growing up too fast for daddy's liking, little lady, and it's not acceptable. Em, talk to her."

Emily strokes their little girl's cheek. "You clever girl. Now, who wants to build a snowman?"

"I want to, Emmy, I want to!" Jack squeals. "I'm the best at building snowmen, daddy says so!"
