THE CRACKLING SOUND of the fireplace sent a peaceful feeling up Sirius' spine

THE CRACKLING SOUND of the fireplace sent a peaceful feeling up Sirius' spine. he felt at peace for once in the life he lived.

he peered over to his younger brother, Regulus Black, to see he's fallen asleep; book leaning on his chin. his mouth slightly open as he breathes in and out like there isn't any worries. well while he's asleep, there isn't really.

Sirius stood and sauntered quietly over to the younger not wanting to wake him from his sleep.

he picked up the book and read the cover of it, 'Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury' it read.

being the older and forced to read certain books growing up to 'educate himself' more he of course had read the dark, dystopian book. he felt related to the book, the life in it didn't seem much different from home life in many ways. people would probably say his life was horrid if he told others he related to the book; which it was but, he couldn't mess up the 'family reputation' he really couldn't care less about, but his parents did.

sometimes he felt his parents made him read the book to show he should be grateful for the way they, supposedly, lived. if you could call it living.

he set the book down on the small coffee table in front of the two and fixed the blanket that had been falling off Regulus, so it's resting peacefully on his shoulders; wrapped around him cozily.

Sirius felt bad for trying to leave his brother;  almost a month ago now,

Sirius had tried to end his life by suicide just almost that month ago.

it wasn't because he hated his life so much he felt suicidal enough to end it.

but because of his parents.

as shown a bit earlier about them, they weren't very amazing people.

his parents were very religious catholics and old fashioned, they believed that anyone who 'sinned' in even the slightest of ways should be sent to hell.

Sirius found that quite amusing, seeing as abusing your children is a sin.

but they did it to 'beat the devil out of them', quite literally when they had.

you see; Sirius is gay.

he didn't know why this was such considered a 'sin'. weren't they all meant to love each other as said in the Bible?

but of course, people don't like different. and when they see different, they're going to attack on that.

he longed for the day he turned eighteen, to move away from this dreaded place he dare call his home. he would take Regulus with him, he didn't want his younger brother being left alone in such a cold place that could never find warmth even with a fire place being set.

Sirius may have been only two years older than the other but he was very protective of him.

it was expected. growing up with abuse and manipulation can make you protective over someone you love to the point you'd die before betraying them.

Sirius looked back at the calendar that hung on the smooth wall of the small library in their home and saw it was now a Sunday.

Church Days, he thought to himself.

it was the 2000s now, why in need to put someone down for not being heterosexual?

quite honestly it made Sirius stir of anger. why should people be automatically defined when discovered anything more than being a straight person? it wasn't fair he was automatically 'evil' before anyone got to know him only because he was attracted to men.

Sirius let out a small, almost sorrow, sigh.

he felt he knew the world would probably never change no matter how many people did seem to except the 'odd.'
