Years had passed since the incident, Sam had to move on. He went and married that princess, eventually becoming king after his father died a few years later, making his wife the queen. The two ruled over the land fairly, the queen making most of the announcements or decisions since Sam was rarely seen. The king had become withdrawn ever since that day, he changed greatly, becoming more soft spoken and introverted, but nobody seemed to mind, as everyone grieved in their own way. Though the kingdom only knew Ponk as some random peasant, Sam knew him as more, so much more.

One evening while the royal couple were sailing to a far off kingdom, a storm rolled in, bringing the waves crashing all around their ship. The sea pulled the vessel every which way, finally ending its journey by hitting it on some rocks, causing the ship to sink. There had been legends of sirens and mermaids around this part of the sea for centuries, but nobody thought them to be one hundred percent true, until this fateful night.

Sam slowly opened his eyes, squinting at the bright sun momentarily before rolling on his side and coughing up extra bits of water that was lodged in his lungs. The young man lay there, catching his breath before hearing a familiar voice, an all too familiar voice. Sam turned his head towards where it had come from, confused when he only saw the sea that lapped the shore inches from his feet. But then it came again, "Sam..." The king's eyes widened as he laid eyes on someone he had never thought he would ever again. "P-Ponkie...?" He uttered softly, tears welling in his eyes. The platinum blonde male was out a little ways in the ocean, wading in the sea by some boulders, only his upper half visible. Sam tried to get to his feet, but he didn't have the strength to, he fell back down with a groan, resting his head in the sand. He heard a soft laugh and then soft splashes, he lifted his head when he heard cautious footsteps approaching him, and that's when it sunk in. This wasn't the Ponk he remembered, this one was more muscular, his eyes a bit softer, his now unruly hair reached a little past his shoulders, and where his ears should be were... fins? Ponk sat down in the sand a little ways away from Sam, studying him and his reaction. Sam's eyes widened as he began to notice more; some of Ponk's darker tanned skin was accented by beautiful purplish red scales, his eyes were so much more alluring than they once had been, and everything about him seemed even more enticing than it ever had. Sam chose to ignore the other details such as the fish like tail that swayed behind Ponk and the shorter's now sharp teeth, all he did was lock eyes with Ponk. "Y-y-ou're alive?!" Sam finally gasped out, shocked. Ponk smirked, laughing softly, "Oh, Sam... I'm anything but alive... can't you tell? I've been living in the sea this entire time... instead of taking my life, the gods chose to give me another form, a second chance... I'm now cursed to roam these seas forever. Have you ever heard of a siren?" Sam nodded, "The mermaid like monsters who lure in men and ships to kill and eat them? Or at least kill them?"
"I've heard that legend plenty of times..." "Well, I'm no legend, am I? I stand here before you, scales and all, defying death and everything natural..." Ponk said calmly, raising an eyebrow. "You're a siren...?" Sam breathed, thinking aloud. Ponk answered him with a nod, "I've been out here for years... I can walk on land like this, but when in water, I take more of a mermaid-esc form, with my lower half being like a giant tail and all..." Sam stared at Ponk in wonder, awestruck and confused all at the same time. "But... being alone out at sea for so many years... it gave me time to think... time to think about what you did... time to think about how you broke my heart..." Ponk looked out at the sea as he spoke, his gaze sad. Sam opened his mouth to speak, but Ponk whipped his head around, cutting him off, "I know what you're thinking Sam. I can see the longing in your eyes, I can feel the lust radiating off of you... You want me back so badly, don't you?" Ponk had lowered his voice as he spoke, the last few words coming out as a whisper. Sam just nodded, too ashamed to even say anything. "And what if I don't want you?" Ponk questioned, raising an eyebrow. Sam sighed, looking Ponk in the eyes, "I will beg and beg and beg you to come back, I will do whatever it takes. If I could rewind time I would, I would do anything for you... I'm such a suck up, I know, but you're my one and only... my beloved... and I can't lose you again..." Ponk smirked, staring Sam down, "I only decided to save you last night... because I thought you deserved a second chance... I know I shouldn't give you one..." at the last part, Sam's whole posture drooped. "But... I will give you just one more..." Ponk kneeled in front of Sam, gently taking his larger hands within his own small ones, "If you mess up this time, I'm never coming back... please take care of this love we share..." as Ponk finished speaking, Sam leaned in, closing the gap between them and planting a passionate kiss on Ponk's lips. All was right within his world once more.
