"Sunny and Oliver must be so frightened." Klaus said worriedly.

"We're all frightened, Klaus. You should get some sleep." Violet told her younger brother.

"But you're dismantling my bed." Klaus told her.

"Use Sunny's. You stayed up all last night trying to find out Count Olaf's plot. It's my turn." Violet reassured him.

"I didn't help us." Klaus said disappointedly, as he sat down on the bed, Violet soon following after.

"Yes, you did. You just didn't finish the job." Violet paused. "Remember when our parents first brought Sunny home?"

"She bit the doorknob off the nursery." Klaus replied, smiling at the memory.

"Mother and Father... They made me promise to always look after you two and make sure you don't get into any trouble. Let me keep my promise." Violet pleaded.

As Violet went around Count Olaf's house, searching for specific items, Lemony turned on a light and spoke. "Having a brilliant idea isn't as easy as turning on a light. But just as a single bulb can illuminate even the most depressing of rooms, the right idea can shed light on a depressing situation. As inventing workshops go, Count Olaf's bathroom was small and dimly lit. But the inventing area in Violet's mind was large and bright... and inside of it was everything she needed."

Violet was now outside the house, trying in vain to swing the hook of her invention up onto the clothesline next to the cage. All Sunny and Oliver could do was watch intently with baited breath. After a couple of failed attempts, Violet was able to catch the clothesline, she activated her invention, which slowly lifted her off the ground.

""The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious,"" she began to quote, as she rose higher and higher. ""It is the source of all true art and science.""

However, as Violet reached the top, she was suddenly grabbed by her invention, causing her to stop just beside the cage.

"How pleasant that you could join us," the Hook-Handed Man told her, pulling her into the tower room.

"What are you gonna do with me?" Violet demanded.

"I said have a seat." Hooky said.

"No, you didn't." Violet informed him.

The Hook-Handed Man yelled in frustration, and Violet decided to listen, taking off her invention, and sitting in an armchair. Hooky struggled for a moment to pull out his walkie-talkie, but when he did, he contacted Olaf.

"Hello?" came Olaf's voice, slightly muffled.

"Boss, it's me." Hooky said.

"Who? Be specific." Olaf told him.

"Me. Your henchman with the-" Hooky began.

"Hand problem? What do you want?" Olaf asked impatiently.

"Your blushing bride just climbed up here to try and rescue the biting brat and the kidnapped kid." Hooky replied.

"Well, how'd she do that?" Olaf asked incredulously.

"Oh, I don't know." Hooky said.

"Well, take a guess." Olaf demanded.

"Um... Well, some sort of, uh..." Hooky trailed off.

"Some sort of what?" Olaf asked, impatience once again creeping into his voice.

"Uh, ropey thing." Hooky answered.

"It was a grappling hook." Violet informed the Hook-Handed Man.

"She says it was a grappling hook." Hooky told Olaf.
