She was at sociology class. Normal boring class day. The girl looked at her friend and classmate Ștefan a few times as he did when they both thought the teacher said something funny or weird. After the end of the class, Melody took everything to her backpack and walked home with her class friends group.
She suddenly remembered she forgot a book and her blue scarf in class. Without them, she could not come home, her mother would scold her again. So after telling her classmates that she would eventually catch them up, she ran back to the building.
Instead of the modern, white block, she now saw an old soviet-styled one. She quickly ran up the stairs and to the classroom her classes her assigned. She saw a small group of young men hanging around. Three of them: the one that could be considered the most attractive, Sergei, was wearing an American sweatshirt. She assumed he was probably the popular guy at that class. He chuckled by something they told him. The other one, Ivan, was the biggest one from them, both in height and body complexion. The three men showed the typical physical features of Slavic people, blond hair and fair skin. The youngest and smallest of them though, Pavel - his hair had more white tones, almost albino-like.
After a quick view, she focused on getting her things and not bringing her attention to other useless things. But before she knew it, they already noticed her.
"Helloooo beautiful!" Sergei greeted her in Russian as he passed an arm behind her and squeezed her close to him. "We've heard you are one of us too. Such a beauty am I right?"
Melody's uncomfortable levels were raising as he kept on holding with his arm around her, but she said nothing and forced a smile. The most forced smile she had.
The two others laughed.
"You know that by going to her, you're getting nothing right? She's not interested dude!" A guy who was at the end of the class suddenly interrupted them.
"Oh, but let's actually see about that, shall we?" They all laughed.
"God, I wish Alex was here.."
But now, she was all alone.
She finally gained enough courage. "G-Guys I'm not here to stay, I just had to pick up my things, I have to go-"
"But I'm sure my beauty can't refuse a little kiss"
"What? No way! What the fuck! I'm not letting him be my first kiss, oh my god." She covered her mouth with a hand and let go of his suffocating embrace. She ran down the stairs, they following her.
She turned left to enter to a dark room. The lights were off and the old window was closed, revealing tiny horizontal rays of light coming from outside. There was also a computer in that room, which was turned on. Before she knew it, the younger member of the group was stuck in it, like an annoying child messing with the programs.
Sergei was not stopping. "Beauty, you're so gorgeous, I'm sure I can show you to my parents. How that sounds?"
"Nonono please OFF! Off with the computer!" She pushed Pavel and searched for the Windows logo, finally managing to turn it off in time. "I can't stay any longer, I gotta go." Then she started running away. Away from them. She heard Sergei shouting a loud "hey!!" as he then commanded them to follow her and bring her back to him.
She ran as fast as she could to a room, only to find Ivan pointing at her chest with a black gun. Melody could hear her heart stop beating for a second as it instantly came back to rush. She quickly rolled between his legs and ran down the stairs screaming for help.
She heard some people talking behind a door and she started ringing the bell and hitting the door impatiently. When an old man opened, she rushed inside, tears rolling down her cheeks "They are following me and want to kill me! Please help me! I don't know what to do!"
Yet it was too late, she heard Ivan's strong steps approaching, near.
She quickly hid behind the kitched counter, laying on the floor.
"WHERE IS SHE?"
The old man walked slowly towards him and then calmly looked at his wife. "Honey, have we seen anyone suspicious to the area?"
Melody was trying hard not to breathe.
"Oh, I'm afraid not, my dear. Is something wrong?"
The tall, big man walked outside after grunting angrily, and after they made sure nobody else was at the building, the old married couple let the girl free.
Melody ran straight to her boyfriend's house, telling him everything. He silently listened to her and hugged her tight, kissing her head softly. "I'm never letting anyone hurt you again, my dear purrincess".
*******
Days passed, maybe a week or so, and the girl almost forgot the turn of events. It was a cold winter afternoon and she was enjoying her cup of hot chocolate while watching the news.
She blinked twice, recognizing the three young men in a tragic car accident shown, the reason mentioned as suicide. "Maybe they ended up feeling bad at the end, deep down. I don't know". She was relieved. They were not going after her, or any other girl, anymore. It was all over.
