Lunar

Oh, gorgeous moon nestled there,

Mere fractions of your breath shine through,

A haunting sight for mortal eyes;

Drifting cloud vessels of midnight blue.

Oblivion of solace, surely

Encompasses your pale but radiant smoke,

Herds of deer passing piney fences

Stand beguiled by your terrific choke.

Stagnant lagoons of starlit drops

Scar the liquid, flowing air,

But the fireworks of your reflection, sweet

Stain the galaxy void of care.

And the shadowed dome of patchwork clouds

Are the lampshade to your glow,

To those deer in that blue meadow there,

Your charm is a thing they’ll never know.
