RecapI needed to think. I couldn't call Gia, else she'd be worried sick. I couldn't call Henry, cause I didn't know how serious the crazed man his threat was.
I pulled my hair in frustration until I heard knocking again on my door for the umpteenth time today.
I walked over and peeped through the peep hole.
Henry?!

"...Henry?!"I quickly unlocked the door and opened it to reveal a disheveled looking Henry. He looked like he hadn't slept all night.
"Mabel...you're okay."
I quickly pulled him inside and checked outside if anyone had been watching. I saw nothing and closed the door with as much force as I could.
Some might argue that I was overreacting but I did not know this man and was unaware of what he was capable of. I made a mental note to ask Maggie about him. She lived here the longest.
"Mabel? What's going on? I've been calling you like crazy all day yesterday. I was worried."
I lowered my head in shame.
I knew it wasn't my fault. I was taken against my will by a brute of a man who seemed to have lost all of his marbles.
"...I know, I know and I'm really sorry Henry. I completely forgot about our date yesterday. I had a really long shift and by the time I came home, I had been completely knocked out. I wanted to call you, but I didn't know how to explain it to you. I felt so bad."
He just let out a sigh and took me in his embrace. "I'm just glad you're not hurt Mabel. I really thought something had happened to you, or that you maybe 'ghosted' me."
I just let out a breath I was holding and hugged him. He always smelt so nice.
"Well...I guess I'll leave you be now. You're obviously not hurt." He laughed awkwardly.
"No!"
My scream made him frown.
"I-I mean, please stay. I could use your company."
I thought back to what that scary man had said yesterday. I prayed he wasn't serious with his threat. That he maybe mixed his words up, but I couldn't ignore the tight knot that was forming in my stomach due to my uneasiness.
