"I'm sorry Maggie..."
She stopped treating the bruises that had formed on my neck and looked up at me.
"For what dear?"
"...For- For being mean and rude to you."
She sighed and waved me off. "It's fine Mabel. You did not know."
I lowered my head. "Why is Diomedes like this Maggie?"
She leaned back into her chair and stared at me, unsure of how to answer me probably, which I don't blame her for.
Diomedes might have shown interest in me but I knew absolutely nothing about him. Other than the fact that he was a businessman and a murderer. He mostly showed almost no emotion whenever he was with me.
He had spent all of this time doing all of these awful things to me, or for me. Just the send me home now...
I found it strange. He did say that he would return in two weeks, but that was only to marry me. I had no say in the matter. I couldn't leave the country, because he had taken my passport and blacklisted me from almost every airport in the US.
I did not understand his reasoning at all. He was a very strange man.
"...I can't really say dear. I have yet to figure him out as well. I know that he loves his job and surprisingly his father as well and wants nothing more than to excel at both those occupations. As the world's best businessman and Russia's most accomplished son."
"But...where do I come in?"
She stood up from the chair and walked over to the stove, stirring the pot of soup she had been cooking. Apparently Diomedes had sent her to me, after I had fainted to watch over me.
Diomedes didn't have a lot of staff, Maggie informed me, due to his lack of trust in people. He did most things in this mansion by himself. He only had four maids who each had their own tasks in contributing to this household and keeping it neat.
He did not have a chef, which meant that he cooked all of his food, himself.
"I really can't say dear. I've never seen him behave in this manner before."
"Has he never had a girlfriend?"
Maggie shook her head. "None that I know of. He was always busy with work and helping his father where he could. I almost never saw him entertain women. Ever since he was a boy."
