I sat down nervously near the window in the car, anticipating my return to school after a long holiday.

I think I'm the only one that gets nervous when returning to school after a long break because it's always sooo awkward to welcome everyone and I despise the first day of school since the assembly is always long.

In my school, on the first day of resumption, both primary and secondary schools have an assembly together to thank God for his mercies throughout the vacation and to start the new session with God, well says the Proprietor.

Finally, we arrived at Premier International College. We came to a halt at the primary school gate, where I inhaled and exhaled with a big smile on my face. It's a new class and a new session. Finally, I was in SS3, and no one realized how happy I was. I'll be graduating soon.

We entered the primary school because the assembly would take place there. To my surprise, so many students were present on the field where the assembly was going on. I actually thought we'd be few because this was the first day of resumption. Many students like to resume after a week or so.

It seems I've not introduced my sisters very well. They're twins, as you know from the names Taiwo and Kehinde. That's what Yoruba people call their twins. They're 12 years old and they're in JSS3. They can be very annoying sisters, but I bet you, they're the best.

I walked to the assembly ground and greeted the teachers on duty. I moved to the SS3 line and was so happy to see my classmates again, not like I relate with all of them tho. I greeted my classmates and moved to the front, you know, as the shortest girl in the class, I was always staying at the front and it's very annoying😒😒

"Hinata!!" That voice is unmistakably Toluwani, I'm sure. I greeted him with a smile and he returned the smile.

The principal greeted us, saying, "Good morning, students." Mr. Ojo, the principal, is a tall man with a severe countenance who is open with his students but does not tolerate nonsense.

We replied, "Good morning, sir."

Mr. Adeniji, the proprietor, strolled in as the principal was speaking to us. I was on the verge of tears because this man can talk ehn, and he doesn't seem to mind if the sun burns us to ashes.

I looked around and saw that I wasn't the only one who was crying inwardly. The majority of the pupils, particularly my classmates, were already murmuring. The only class showing their teeth are the JS1 students. They're still new, they don't know what's going on, but they will soon understand.

"Hello, my great students" , the proprietor greeted us.

"Good morning sir", we responded, but those newbie's voices were too loud.

"I'm sure what this man has to say is about school fees, abeg he should be fast jare, we're under the scorching sun", Ayomide, my classmate, murmured.

"He too like money", Banjo, my mate from SS3B said in pidgin and hissed.

After 1 hour and 30 minutes, the proprietor was done with his speech. We were all sweating, even the teachers could not complain. The only thing I grabbed out of what the proprietor said was that by the end of the week, the SS3 students would present their manifesto for whichever post they wanted. He also said that our class would be in the new building. Oh my gosh, I'm so glad coz that building is the most beautiful building in the entire school and it's a little bit far from the main school, I wonder if my classmates would be able to manage it, most especially the art boys, those guys are too rough mehn.
